Sculpture? Nope, home electronic. The LaCie Hub, designed by Ora-Ito, is a thing of beauty. It provides you with 4 extra USB ports, 2 FireWire ports, a light and a fan. And you'll want to leave it out, even display it, it looks so good.

We've found LaCie's electronics in general to be better looking than average and use an external hard drive from them for extra disc space. The Hub works with Mac or PC and is made of that popular glossy white polycarbonate you find on many of Mac's products.
it's a hoot.

1. That is so cute;
2. It matches my iMac;
3. After it stops being a hoot it's gonna get real old really quickly.

Boomer, that's why it'll get really old really quickly.

Well, if it is anything like the LaCie hard drive I have read reviews on it will NOT get old very quickly...
It will break before it has a chance to. :-)

The problem is that it looks great as is, and the light and the fan are very appealing additions. Before I gave up on it, I even tried to think of ways to make the wires hang artfully. I want it to be terrific, but I've failed to see how it can be.
sigh

1 on above. This is one of those ridiculous products that looks great until it gets put to its intended use. Aesthetics trump function = Bad design.

Well, my Lacie external hard drive has worked perfectly for more than a year now.
But this thing.....um....no, I don't think so.

i think this would be a brilliant way to contain multiple ports if the cables were retractable. picture the base on the floor tucked neatly under your desk or by your chair and the ports you are currently using extending up to your computer comfortably. that would solve so many storage and usage problems such ports invariably create. did they not ask focus groups about that before creating this thing?
