Power Strip with Foot Switch

06.20.powerstrip.jpg

For a quick way to turn off all of his chargers at once, AT reader Marcelo thought up the idea of combining a power strip with a foot switch. We think it's a great idea.

This power strip at the Super Media Store has a foot switch integrated into the strip. It could work well as long as the strip isn't concealed within a cabinet.

Great! Then I can accidentally shut my computer off when I am sitting at my desk!

mdb, that is what I was thinking also (rather, why I thought this would not a readily available product). But I suppose that if you are a person who likes to shut off, or unplug things before you leave this house, this might be a time saver.

Mounting this very low on the wall, an inch or two above the baseboard, might solve the problem of accidentally shutting the strip off with an errant foot. It would be low enough to kick with your foot when you want to, but out of the way enough to be safe from what michael mentions above.

Or you could just use this power strip for things that you want to turn on and off with your foot.

Why can't you use a regular surge protector? Are most people not able to use their big toe to flip the switch? Well, I guess this "special" power strip isn't too expensive or anything.

This is actually pretty close to a normal powerstrip but with a nicer switch button... my dream one would have a long cord going from the strip into the footswitch. That way the whole strip could be completely stowed away and you could place the footswitch in a discrete place.

Thanks, though, for whomever found this!
