Our Favorite Halloween Decorations

halloween1.jpg

Halloween is one of our favorite holidays. Every year we vow to do a little more decorating than just a pumpkin on a fire escape (Who are we kidding? Most years we can't even manage that! But we have high hopes for ourselves this year.). We don't want to necessarily go whole hog, but wouldn't mind a few nods to the season...

The usual suspects have some tasteful Halloween decorations — Martha Stewart has line of Halloween decorations with craft store giant Michael's, and Target also has a large variety of all things Halloween. There are also those creative folks on Etsy for other decorating options.

Our favorite is definitely the Bates Motel Towel. We love this. It also doesn't just have to be for Halloween — you can be creepy anytime! Just a simple white towel with embroidery. A DIY, perhaps? Either way, we love it.

If you're going to all the trouble to decorate for the holidays, you might as well show it off. Last year, The Kitchn put together a full Halloween dinner.

I've been looking for more "adult" halloween decor like this.

My husband would love the Bates Motel towel. He's a huge fan of classic horror moves and Hitchcock in particular. You can't get much more classic than Psycho.

I just bought the martha stewart cupcake stencils today at a third off - so if someone is looking to pick the stuff up, might be an idea to make haste.

The October issue of Martha Stewart is great for "grown-up" Halloween decor and party ideas. Martha Stewart.com too!
