It's Friday! We wish we had Vernor Panton's BarBoy to help dispense some drinks after work. Designed in 1963, the mobile cart serves as storage for bottles, glasses and necessary accoutrement and doubles as a side table when not in use. So chic compared to those fake globes! Produced by Vitra of molded plywood with a high-gloss varnish, metal and castors...

After work? I worked in one high tech company in Maryland where they passed out drinks *at* work every Friday afternoon around 3. The containers they used looked similar to this one only a lot bigger. Nothing stronger than beer but hey, free beer is free beer. The last "working" day before Christmas at that company was usually an alcoholic pot-luck (everything from cherries soaked in 200 proof alcohol to vodka shooters and rum cake - with about a whole shot in each piece of cake). Ahhh, the good old days. ;->

These look like they'd be perfect as bathroom storage...

This looks like a trash can- not nearly as cool as the fake globe in my book!

I've been hunting all over for those fake globes. If all the chic folks are going to be buying these then which dumpsters should I dive in for the awesome globes?

The fake globes are those funny things in old-time "libraries" that were shaped like globes but hinged at the equator, and served as bottle storage.

Globes have been used for centuries to hide a all kinds of things. The globes themselves aren't 'fake' - in fact the good ones are quite lovely representations - but they do utilized the space inside the globe for storage of some kind. One option is to 'hide' the liquor cabinet - however they are probably best known as safes in Victorian romance novels.
I am assuming they are selling them in a SkyMall catalogue or similar which has produced this negative commentary.
Personally, I have always thought the idea to be rather brilliant for small space living assuming the aesthetic of the globe is acceptable.
