While browsing the new products online at Ikea, we stumbled onto Gisela textiles. They're designed by S. Edholm and L. Ullenius and feature very bold and abstract shapes and patterns. At $6.99 per 59"W yard, we think these fabrics are a steal.

They're not available for purchase online, so you'll have to go to a store and check them out in person. But, we'd want to do this anyway before featuring the fabrics in any projects: while the patterns have appeal online, they'd have to pass an in-person inspection for quality, too. Does anyone have any experience with Ikea fabrics?

I just went to Ikea, New Haven CT, this week to look at fabrics to reupholster a loveseat. I ended up going home empty handed. The fabrics I wanted were either short on yardage, or they were out of stock. Plus, I had to wait 30 min before I could find anyone to help me. However, I was very excited by the patterns. It is really hard to find modern prints at fabric stores outside major cities. The quailty to price is great.
I love modern fabric, and Ikea has some great patterns. I did not see any where the pattern was sketchy or blotchy. They are a cotton and a lighter weight fabric. Not upholstery weight fabric. I have used them stretched over frames for art, and in pillow covers, and I have even used them in lieu of mats for photos, and I they are great.
I bought several fabrics at IKEA over the years and I'm in general plesantly surprised by their quality.
