Fabric hound. Looking for nice fabric is one of the most frustrating experiences on earth, so when we hear of a good resource - no matter how remote - we'll post it.
Laura found this great fabric from Hancock. Here's the skinny:
Hancock has teamed up with Laurie Smith of "Trading Spaces" fame to launch some new, more modern-looking fabrics. Not bad, especially since they're $16 bucks a yard.
While we're skeptical of Trading Spaces, we really like the look of these fabrics. The problem is that Hancock's nearest store is 70 miles away in PA and CT. Ordering will have to be done on faith. (Thanks, Laura!) MGR

If you've ever watched Trading Spaces (guilty!), you'll know that Laurie is a fabric whore. And I do have to say, she always picks nice stuff. More than the other desigers (and I haven't seen the show in about 2 years), her style is very liveable. It didn't surprise me at all that she got this licensing deal.
Hey Ruth, watch your language! ;)
I calls 'em as I sees 'em.
I have bolts of laurie's fabric for sale at great prices.let me know if anyone is interested , how much and what pattern you are looking for. Thanks
I'm trying to find Piet Mondrian print fabric - can anyone help me as to where I can find it?
I'm looking for the "streamers" fabric that was just discontinued. It has light green, light & dark peach on a beige background.
Thanks!
hey! I am desperate to find the slubby basket fabric in sprey. its the aqua color that is almost robin's egg blue. I'll take any amount. Thanks.
Laurie Smith's line at Hancock fabrics is tanking. It's been out for 2 years now and has hardly sold anything. It's already on sale for 50% off because hardly anyone buys it. I love the fabric personally but the older clientele of Hancock however do not. It was a horrible move by Hancock. So if you're looking for it, go to the stores and it should all be on sale.
I think the collection is stunning. I love the fresh retro/mod colors and patterns, earthy and bright. It's disapointing the line isn't doing better because I'd like to see more Laurie fabrics. I suppose the upside is that I get to buy them all at a discount, now, which I have. Found some for $3.99 a yard.
Kate,
My Hancock Fabric Store has that slubby basket fabric in Spray...the robin's egg blue/aqua color you were looking for. If you read this any time soon, I'd be happy to pick some of it up for you...let me know!

Piet Mondrian fabric is available at http://www.joannaha.com.
Love Laurie Smith's fabrics and I am 51 years old! It is true about the patrons of Hancock and the "older"crowd not liking it as much as their same old same old traditional designs. I guess these are the last of a dying breed who still sew for themselves. Or it could be the "older" ladies have the money to hire decorators and they go with the same old tired traditional looks! Shame on Hancock! They should read this and know they shouldgive this fabric line more time! There are plenty of us "older" women who can recognize great style and design when we see it! Linda
I have admired Laurie Smith's fabrics since they came out. In late 2005 I used small amounts of the Slubby Basket in dark brown, the Gibson Stripe in robin's egg, Zig Zag in leaf and Freer in robin's egg in my Northern California family room. I purchased in small quantites as my limited budget allowed. The $14 or so price tag was still a little steep for my single income decorating budget. We have now relocated to the DFW area. We are purchasing a new house & I decided to drop into a Hancocks. I hadn't been in since moving in May '06. A new house means I get to decorate all over again. To my surprise and delight, the Laurie Smith fabrics are at a price I can truly afford and use throughout my house. I may have gone overboard, but I've already bought Anemone in curry, Pentagon in pear, Freer in curry, Mosaic in yellow, Fiori, Laurie's Leaf in gold and a host of other's. The cotton's are marked down to $5.88 a yard and the upholstery weights are $9.00. This President's Day weekend these prices half of that! I'm sad to see it go, but I'm so glad I can take advantage of the prices.
I just bought some Laurie Smith fabric at Hancock which is closing in my area. I got "Anemone" in turquoise, purple and yellowish color. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a rug color that would go with that fabric?
does anyone have any Laurie Smith fabric for sale still?
The Hancock Fabric stores in Chicago have tons of her fabric left and are currently selling it for $3.99 a yard.

I saw some great laurie smith fabric on sale at the hancock fabrics in pine bluff, arkansas, but i don't know the name of it--how can i find out? it was a pucci-ish print in several shades of pale and mid-greens to aqua, meant to coordinate with the green and yellow sunburst. i figure i'd have better luck looking for it if i knew the name. but i can't find it on a website anywhere.... any ideas??

I just snatched over 15 yards of this fabric for under $20. It's on sale at Hancock for only $1.19 a yard. I was so excited at this find. I may have to get more!

They are making room for her new designs that are coming out soon. That is why it is so on sale!

I have several yards of Laurie Smith fabric that I won't be using. I had purchased it on clearance to re-upholster and make drapes etc, but recently found out hubby is allergic to dustmites! I had to cut way down on the amount of fabric I'm using in the house.
I have some Mosaic in yellow/white, Waves in coral/white/green, Streaks in chocolate, Folio stripes in chocolate, Pentagon in green. I may also have extra Anemone in green/yellow/orange. I'm definitely using this for my kitchen valances, but bought way more than I'll ever use. Oh, I also have 2 solids - Atlas I think it was called - in gold and mushroom. For most of these I have over 5 yards, even as much as 10 for the solids. I also may have small amounts of Constellation orange/white, Gibson's Stripe in robin's egg, Zig Zag in green and Freer in robin's egg. I have pillow covers in the Gibson's, Zig Zag and Freer I won't be using. Email me. I can let you know how much I have.
Does anyone have any extra Laurie's Leaf in gold/beige/white? I used this for my living & dining room drapes and want to use it for my family room valances too. 3 yards would be enough. Thanks!

FYI - this is what I have left as of 11/6/07:
Atlas (Polyester, upholstery weight) Gold 6 ¾ yds
Atlas Mushroom 10 yds
Streamers (cotton, white background with coral and green wavy stripes) 7 ¾ yds
Anemone Curry (Yellow, orange & green) 3 yds
Pentagon (Polyester, upholstery weight) Pear 3 ¾ yds
I am asking $4.00 per yard for the Atlas & Pentagon and $2.00 per yard for the Streamers and Anemone.
I also have scraps of Zig Zag in green (Autumn Leaf, I think) and Gibson Stripe in Robins egg you can have free, just pay postage. Just in case you need a small amount to face a throw pillow or something.
