Spoonflower: DIY Fabric Design
The New York Times 1.8.09

1-8-spoonflower-1.jpgWe've looked at Spoonflower both on the Los Angeles and San Francisco sites. Today, The New York Times looks at the North Carolina-based company that allows anyone to upload designs and have them printed on combed cotton...

1-8-spoonflower-2.jpgWe're excited to hear that upholstery-weight canvas should be available soon — perfect for small scale reupholstery projects! Currently, combed cotton custom-printed fabric is $18 a yard, or $5 for an eight-by-eight-inch swatch at spoonflower.com. Be sure to look at their Fabric of The Week Contest.

Check it out: You Design It, They Print It.

Hmm, doesn't a North Carolina-based company show that AT really needs a Mid-Atlantic blogger south of DC, possibly based in Raleigh or High Point?

I've been on Spoonflower for a little while now, and do believe it is nice. ha said, only having the material in, albeit good quality, thin quilt-weight cotton puts a damper on any desire I have for the product. Once they get heavier home-dec canvas... well, I'll be all over it.
