Welcome to Tiboutoo, who is Curing in the heart of Brooklyn in her swanky, Modern unit! Wave to them and give them strength if you pass.
• Cure Clock: 48 days Remaining
• Assignment: Read Ch. 2, tackle the kitchen or work on your room's floorplan
• Flickr Pool: East Fall Cure Pool
Welcome to week two everyone and stay healthy! Remember that while this is not a long process, it is long enough for the need to pace yourself, and to be pragmatic. Give strength when you can, take it when you need it and don't overshoot. Also, when you start moving things and making change in your home, you will be stirring up old, dead energy and this stuff can make you emotional, bring you down and even make you sick. Clean it quickly and move on! This is not easy, but it is rewarding...
This Week's Assignment: Last week you got inspired, this week you go to work. In the Deep Treatment you are going to focus on the kitchen. You will declutter and clean your kitchen from the top down and then cook a meal you actually like! There are other smaller tasks as well, such as filtering your tap water and planning a housewarming, but the kitchen is your target.
In the One Room Workout, you will probably be focusing on another room in your home. At this point, your task is to arrange the room on paper to best meet your needs. Additionally, it is time to take your inspiration and crystallize it into your vision for the project. Remember, once you have a clear port to sail towards, the trip becomes much easier.

The Fall Cure is live again in all four of our Home city sites. The Cure posts will go up twice a week on Mondays and Fridays, allowing for plenty of comment space. We will be pulling comments and pics to the front page post on each of these days and everyone is urged to take pics and post them here.

I've been sick (still am) and haven't been able to really do much besides turning my home into a messier mess. I clicked "Deep Treatment" becauase from my plan of doing storage room/entry hall I've gone to need a full treatment. And my apartment does, too.
Claudiacricket - your bathroom looks amazing! I moved in here 3 months ago and the amount of clutter mine has you can't imagine!!
PS, and on a completely unrelated note, why us freelancers don't get to have a nice boss who tells us to leave earlier and rest and don't come back until we're feeling better? Why do we have to fulfill deadlines anyway? Ok, back to work.

Whoa! A gutted and completely refurbished bathroom in one week?! OK-- I have no excuse not to clear off the little table at my landing strip after work today. Thanks, ClaudiaCricket, for setting a good (or, rather, amazing exceptional unbelievable extraordinary) example.

Glad you like my little glowing birdcage! It's really easy to put together. Just want to recommend that anyone wanting to recreate it should stick with LED lights - less heat generated feels much safer! I'm doing the one room workout in the bedroom (may bleed into a couple other rooms, since it's a 1BR); really enjoying myself so far.

I've already cleaned out my dishes, I threw away all the mismatched plastic lids/containers a couple of weeks ago because they were annoying me. I have a Brita, and I cook almost daily.
So this week's goals are:
get rid of the shelves behind my stove/oven that I use for a pantry
put in the new cabinet and use that instead
Move all the pots, pans and seldom used appliances into another new cabinet
clean out the fridge and defrost the freezer
set up the cart for the microwave
Get extender hoses and finally move the washing machine into it's permanent corner somehow.
Maybe find some cuter dog bowls and a 3x5 rug for under the new dining table.

My plans for the kitchen:
-Clean and organize the cabinet under the sink
-Throw out old food
-Wash window
-Fill holes in baseboard and wall
-Clean under fridge and stove (eek!)
-Level the stove
-Put diatomaceous earth everywhere!
I'm actually suffering from lack of kitchen supplies, so I am going to be buying things like food storage containers, a pot with a lid, etc.

And I love them.

The floors have been cleaned.
The fridge has been emptied and cleaned.
We have given away or sold: cd changer, speakers, christmas tree, large chair, small footstool, ironing board.
Flowers have been purchased.
By the end of the day: pantry cabinets will be sorted and cleaned.
Tomorrow: purchase new kitchen shelving paper and install. Continue work with joint compound on never-ending staircase wall repair.
And VOTE early in the presidential election!

I'm a little late to the party. I've been so busy the last couple weeks, but now I'm all signed up and ready to go. Since I missed it I might as well list some of my goals of things I'd like to do (hopefully sharing with others will discourage my natural tendency to procrastinate).
1) Generally clean, tidy up and declutter of all of my condo. I have a lot of random crap I've been accumulating since college, and a lot of it I just need to get rid off.
2) Take my computers and audio equipment out of the same room as my bed. I'd like to move them to my second bedroom and have a little music studio/office in there and then have a proper bedroom for a change.
3) Fix up my bedroom closet. Probably means I have to take some of the clothes out and reposition the shelving in there so it better suits my current needs.
4) Make my little patio a place I can go out and relax. It's not currently too inviting. It needs a nice cleaning, some decent furniture and I need to figure out a way to keep frogs from jumping down into it ever time it rains (where they then die and dry up... ewww).
5) Create a nice sitting area in the room off of my living room than can also double as place where I can sit and eat, by myself or with others. Also replace the coffee table in my living room since it's too big.
Those are my main goals I'd like to accomplish. I would put paint at least 1 room a color, but I still can't figure out what colors I want to paint... so perhaps pick a paint color should go on there too. Wish me luck. And it's great to see some of the things you guys have already done and are doing!

Wow - I'm amazed how much better I feel about this kitchen having simply thrown out all the mismatched Tupperware and cleaned off the front of the fridge.

I thought I'd be doing the One Room Workout on my bedroom (hence all the bedroom photos on flickr), but now that I got my hands on a copy of the book from the NYPL, I've changed my mind. My Apartment Health Assessment score was a seven!
Here's the deal: I moved into the apartment in July, but had a setback in decorating in September when I had to throw away some furniture and pillows--we had bedbugs! We just had our fourth and final extermination, so now I'm back in business, but I'm awaiting a couch that's on back order. Sigh.
Okay, at any rate, I finished my week one tasks this morning, and now I'm onto the week two things. And I have to say, mopping about 700 sq. feet of the 900 sq. feet of my apartment sure makes me feel better (my roommate will have to do her own bedroom vacuuming and mopping thankyouverymuch).
It can only get better from here...

Ah! I have been away for a week traveling on business and feel like I'm way behind.
So far I have thoroughly vacuumed my apartment, although I may have to again since my partner likes to make a mess of our place when I'm out of town. It's like I'm living with a dog that's not house broken. *Sigh* But on the bright side, I am also super proud of bring two huge shopping bags of stuff to my local Salvation Army.
By this Sunday, I will:
*Take our my AC unit
*Weather strip my drafty doors
*Finish my window film project started over the summer
*Winter proof my drafty windows
*Thoroughly clean my kitchen
*Cook a meal on Sunday
*Do some more decluttering and find more things for my outbox (i.e. my extra tv I haven't used in a year)

I have a pile of things by my door waiting to go to Goodwill and plans to abscond with a coat rack tomorrow. Cooked dinner tonight but haven't got any flowers.
I've been doing some laying on my bed and mentally moving the two dressers around the bedroom. I might just move the bed as well. If I switch it to the opposite wall then it will be on a wall that I don't share with any neighbors.

I'm a little behind due to travel, but I've got some buyers for my two large Craigslist items this weekend -- my old TV and huge desk. After that happens, I'll have more space to move things around to decide where to put them. I plan on hanging a few pictures this weekend as well and if I have time, swap out my summer clothes -- it's getting cold in here. Other than that, I just want to make a list of mini-projects, like getting art framed and making a floorplan and furniture budget.
