Marilyn,
Congratulations on making it to the finals!!!! I am so happy to have the opportunity to see more of your place. Throughout the contest it has been my favorite (although you got some competition from Joel's Lime Loft, and Fernanda's Florida Home). These are my three favorites, but I think you are tipping the scales.

Your use of color is amazing. You have pulled off something very difficult, great subtlety of color, simplicity and restraint. It's extremely lovely and peaceful. The other thing you have accomplished is a skillfull juxtaposition of the sublime with the graphic. I love your use of repetitive motifs. (i.e., the anatomy statues, the beakers, the aorta vase - is someone a doctor in the house?). I love the urban toy as art. So cute posed beneath the clock.

I am very in love with your use of white. I used to do all white and am always fascinated by great use of white. The objects in the glass are fascinating. And would white ever be complete without a Sarineen-looking table and Nana Ditzel butterfly chair?

The balance you have achieved is nothing less than remarkable. If I had to guess, I say you are a Libra.

Good luck! I would love to see a posting where you show off what you have chosen from CB2 as your prize.

Rumi and sushi to celebrate? What time should I be there?

peggy! you cracked me up when you asked about being a libra--i'm not, but peter is! how funny, you practically nailed us on that one.

there aren't any doctors living here, but we are obsessed with science (the science channel is one of our favorites, especialy when they run old episodes of carl sagan shows). many of my family members are in the medical field, so awareness of the natural and physical world has always been with me.

on that tip, the anatomical figures in the bedroom are acupuncture models with the points and meridians mapped out on the body with their corresponding chinese characters. they don't creep us out (as someone commented)--they watch over us!

Marilyn,
Whoa, how cool, accupuncture models, I guess they are also guarding your Chi, which feels fully unrestricted in this beautiful place. yes, now that I've looked at your place again, nature is one of your repetitive themes (the bamboo wall hanging, the coral, the botanical print).

Your place is just sublime.

Oh I almost forgot - your lamps are the coolest. I'm going to have to start making lamps, I can never find cool ones. Yes, I definitely feel the science, so many billions and billions of choices...

The more I see of this space - the more I love it! And this morning I see you are the winning entry - congratulations!

Peggy - I was just thinking how balanced this entry was the other day. Wouldn't you know it, I'm a Libra ;)
