What inspired you to use color? We're graphic designers and love working with color; it makes us happy to come home to. This bold color scheme in our home was inspired by recent travels to the Caribbean and Central America, with a modern twist...
Color Tip: Using complementary colors always works, but color triads can be even more interesting. Playing with a color wheel and thinking about color theory is important. The color scheme in my home is a triad... with the open floorplan, everything needed to work together, yet each room is a different color. Color accents tie everything together.
Colors Used: All Benjamin Moore colors: Lighter green: 382 Artichoke Hearts Deeper green: 384 Turning Leaf Purple: 1386 Purple Rain RedOrange: 2170-20 Tropical Orange Deep Pink: 2080-30 Cherry Wine
Fall Colors Introduction -------------------------------
Welcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...
1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide
The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.
2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop
Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.
Best, Maxwell

Very well done. Sophisticated use of saturated secondary colours and excellent ballance of colour weight room-to-room (it's what makes it feel like you're in the same house in every room, unlike some other entries). I especially like the coordination of the kitchen's wall colour to the natural mineral in the countertop - and I am usually not a fan of purple!

I love this space. First, the luscious couch/pillows/rug/dog combination...I'm speechless. I long to lounge there. Second, the garnets peeking out of your marble counter top are lovely. Third, I have the same fiestaware colors, seriously. The photo looks like Persimmon, Cobalt, Cinnabar, and Periwinkle right? Very beautiful, welcoming, energetic space.

Hello, it's my room, thank you for the nice complements so far!
lovemcm, the granite is Brazilian, most commonly called "Tempest Black"
And Aisha, yes, those are the fiestaware colors ;)

Brilliant use of color to tie the open floor plan together. Dazzling contrast that makes the accents âpopâ. Like the innovative camera angles as well.

This house looks amazing, the color combinations are great in such an open floor plan where you can see how well they harmonize from different angles. The kitchen is gorgeous! Especially the purple - it's perfect!

Graphic designers should not be allowed to enter color contests; it's not fair to the rest of us. And it's not fair that their house is so perfectly wonderful. Their chosen colors paradoxically help to create a calming yet fun, artsy yet classic, and quaint yet futuristic home. Dang you and your color triad theory witchcraft! (please send some voodoo my way).
