East #69: David's Pop Perspective

10-15-fc08-ny-69.jpg

fallcolors4.jpgName: David
Location: West Village, NY
Type of Home: Apt.

What inspired you to use color? I have always felt that color is the fastest and cheapest way to "remodel" your place, for the price of a can of paint and some pillows you can re-rock your world. I am inspired by the colors of mid-century America: everything from MGM technicolor musicals of the 40's to Warhol's silkscreens of the 60's, with plenty of 50's and 70's mixed in...

Color Tip: There are no right or wrong colors, use your intuition, if it's true for you than it's true.

Colors Used: split pea, cinder, cuacao orange, pismo dunes, atrium white.

Fall Colors Introduction -------------------------------

fallcolors1.jpgWelcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...

1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide

The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.

2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop

Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.

Best, Maxwell

I want that tank. I used to have a dog named Tank who we had to put down. My friend gave me a toy tank (fit in the palm of your hand) like yours in memoriam. So I must have your tank.

Photos seem a bit over-saturated so I'm tempted to cry foul but I do love the green paint in your bathroom. Definitely try for the next Smallest, Coolest contest.

My question was in line with heather's... does it really look like that? That shade of orange is just screaming at me; can't be real. But I like your stuff. The vase on the pot rack is cute.

Whoever resized these photos needs to lay off the sharpening - the edge of the laptop looks like a saw! It would be nicer to see these without such heavy-handed editing.

first let me apologize about the image quality ,
i tried uploading these files at a higher resolution and
and they wouldn't take .
then i made them so small they took, but look like this ,
so sorry . wish i could try again .

yes ,the orange is really that intense , it's a dutch door paint enamel called Hasolac ,
goes on beautifully in one coat .

and for *heather leaf*
the tank is a $20 thrift store find and is for g.i.joes .
i have seen the same one on ebay , but for quite a bit
more .

I like your space a lot. I think your space is almost a bit like a grown-up man version of my girl apartment.

Sorry about the pics, but don't worry. We get what you're doing and I, for one, like it.

Loving this. Gorgeous colors. This is my fave entry. I work in the deign industry and i can tell you this place is ruling. A genius use of space. A gray is not just another gray - these colors prove that.

VERY NICE
