What inspired you to use color? Every apartment I've ever lived in has started off beige, and my decorating mission is always to eradicate the beige as quickly as possible. Being surrounded by bright, rich colors is such a wonderful feeling - how could I resist?..
Color Tip: Pick an unusual object or piece of furniture that you love and design around that! (In this case, mine was the set of orange chairs.) Don't be afraid to be bold instead of pastel, to mix and match colors you might think don't go together, and to try something, hate it, and start over. That's part of the fun.

Fall Colors Introduction -------------------------------
Welcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...
1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide
The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.
2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop
Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.
Best, Maxwell

Fun! But however do you water that hanging plant?

I love the wall full of colorful frames and prints. Fabulous!
Your bedroom is pretty but the mirror looks hung too high. I think 57" from the middle of your frame is the standard gallery height. It might make a big difference.
That couch is killer!

I love the use of color here, and I also love the details in each room. The only thing that bothers me is *that* much bright color in the bedroom. My insomnia is bad enough--I'd be up all night with bright blue walls and a shocking pink duvet. :) Yes, I know my eyes would be closed anyway, but there's just something psychological about soothing colors in the bedroom.

Blue, orange, green, and pink together in one gorgeous, soothing apartment is quite an achievement! Amazing how you put so much color in one space and made it look so seamless and beautiful.

Everytnig is so cute!
I really like how you fill in that corner with hanging plant.
It looks great!
About chandelier in the bedroom - maybe it would be better if you hang it little more to the center?

this apartment is *beautiful* Plus, it looks like an awesome place to actually live or hang out! Will you come and decorate my apartment?!!

love the gallery wall!
agree that the mirror in the bedroom is much too high.
Also, whats with the chandelier? If that's where the electric is, that's fine, just swag it into the center of the bed and lower it.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the suggestions and comments! I just wanted to explain that I couldn't get a good picture of the whole ceiling, but there are decorative pieces in each of the corners of the room and track lighting in the middle - that's why the chandelier (which is just for show) is in the corner like that. I wanted the feeling of an arboretum - there's a bird cage and more plants on the other side... And yes, it's a pink TV! Sony has a discontinued line of colored flatscreens (why discontinued????) and I spent weeks tracking one down. All the best! - MZ

This apartment is so lovely! I can't get over the explosion of color in the bedroom. And it looks like those are rubber claw covers on the cat--a great, humane (not to mention sassy) way to save your furniture.
The salon wall is fab!

Gorgeous!! I would never have been able to visualize so many bright colors working in combination for such a vividly elegant scheme. It makes me want to spend time in the space.

I'm very impressed with how well these bold colors work in one space. The bedroom is a blue oasis - I love how the plant pops against it - so vibrant! And, who can resist a fantastic feline pic. But seriously, how long did it take you to put the wall of pictures together? Wow!
