Name: Jeanie
Location: New York City
Type of Home: rental apartment
What inspired you to use color? I love candy, plastic toys and super bright colors. I have collections ranging from lunch boxes, pez dispensers, carnival chalkware and bobble heads which dictate my design and color palette...
Color Tip: Each wall in a room can be painted a different color without being overwhelming. The paint colors can be intense, but only one should be bright and they all should have the same finish.
Colors Used: i love you pink, light my fire, pure joy, refreshing teal
Fall Colors Introduction -------------------------------
Welcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...
1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide
The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.
2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop
Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.
Best, Maxwell

Very fun! Love it.

I could use about 1/2 of the kitsch in my home but I love all of it in yours. So well displayed and curated.

Lot of personality in this place. I hate yellow usually, but in your apartment it's beautiful. Lovely collection of lunch boxes :)

Not something I'd want for myself, but it is still pretty darn awesome. I think I might have to stand in the middle of rooms and spin until it turned into swirls of visual cotton candy.

Cool stuff and fun place!

I like how thoroughly everything is done in this apt. Looks ready for a fun party. Do you have a professional interest in
catering, collecting or painting?

This is really inspiring! It's definitely an apartment that's after my own heart. Thanks for sharing your colorful world.
Where did you get the pink chandelier from? I need that in my bathroom...

This is so much fun... the type of home I would love to have if I had the courage to go so bold with color and show off my own collections.
Your use of color here is seamless and works to display all your fun collections in a way that makes them a part of the space and interesting to look at.
Not to mention a whole lunch box wall! The Disney characters school bus, which I lovingly carried everyday to kindergarten, will always have a special place in my heart.

I think we've seen that chandelier before, but within the context of the giddy fun of this place, it makes much more sense and is much more appealing than when seen on a manufacturer's website.

This place rocks. I can´t believe how well Jeanie has put it together. In my place, all of these fun objects would look like a giant, mangled, mess, but in her place, there are beautiful vignettes everywhere you turn! Great job!

Did I see you on an episode of "Small Space Big Style"?

How did you get the Pez dispensers to stand up so well? Mine always seem to fall over on each other, domino style.

I'm lovin' SISTER RUBY. I say you keep that and get rid of the rest.

Agreed, ncantine -- I knew I recognized this one the minute I saw the first photo. Definitely from the TLC show...

More is more. This is very cute, but it actually looks a little more like a retail space than a place where someone lives. Still, very exuberant and nicely done.

Love it! It's like a drunken dream in mexico with warhol and hello kitty wrestling.

This is definitely the way to pull off a look I'm not especially fond of (sorry). It's neat and organized. It doesn't look like a store. It doesn't look like you just acquire a lot of stuff and don't really know how to arrange it - you definitely spend some time making it work. When you go for it, you go all the way, but you know, you're not just filling in nooks and crannies with creepy plastic crap. It looks well-chosen and decidedly homey in an amusing "I'm me because I don't want to be you" kind of way, and that's awesome.

wow...thank you so much for the amazing and positive feedback! totally sweet!
i am going to try to respond to everyone's queries in one response.
kate (nc): i do not aspire for a career in catering or the arts, the 2 detail photos that have food are from an engagement party i hosted. as for collecting - b/w my love for flea markets and my inability to just own one version of something i adore - i have amassed an absurd collection of objects from the past.
aimi: my pez have always remained standing, i guess they're obedient.
ange_lune: your assessment is brilliant! my friends have already started quoting you.
general:
1) yes, i was on hgtv's small space big style a few years ago. surprisingly, my episode was about color.
http://www.hgtv.com/dc-design-small-space/style-with-color/pictures/index.html
2) the pink chandelier was purchased at abc carpet and home in nyc. they have a fantastic array of lighting fixtures.
once again, thank you all for your awesome observations and comments. i love bright colors (obviously) so incorporating them into my living space was never an issue. you should always surround yourself w/ what you love. xxoo.

Then I guess I need to put on my stern face and give my Pez a good talking-to about standing up straight ;-)
