International #13: Paulina & Marek's Shades of Gray

10-15-fc08-in-13.jpg

fallcolors3.jpgName: Paulina & Marek
Location: Pabianice, Poland
Type of Home: non-rental apartment, owned.

What inspired you to use color? The inspiration for my own interior was mainly my work as a graphic designer. I like clear and simple solutions as a base for any idea. I am also a rule breaker. I chose dark colors for the walls in my small apartment to prove that they do not have to "shrink" the size of my place. They are classy but also provide a neutral background for colorful paintings and mix of modern and old furniture...

Color Tip: I used black and darker shades of gray as a background for bright color on furniture and art works. These colors are neutral as well as elegant and classy.

Colors Used: black, graphites, navy blue, and egyptian cotton (off white).

Fall Colors Introduction -------------------------------

fallcolors1.jpgWelcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...

1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide

The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.

2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop

Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.

Best, Maxwell

Love it! The color usage isn't very obvious, and certainly isn't blinding, but the colors are used in a comfortable-looking home. One thing I love about this entry, and about a lot of the non-US entries, is seeing different pieces, different mixes of pieces, different colors, etc. It's nice to see the home of someone who shops at stores outside the US, reads different magazines, and generally gets their inspiration from places other than the AT "usual suspects."

Beautiful grey and the red - green combination. But is there no living room? It´s really small, I guess.

Love the gray with the bright green! And the orangy-red in the kitchen is awesome.

I love the bright green-it is such an unusual shade for interior.
The furniture-old and new mixed together blend very well.
Well done Paulina and Marek!

I love looking at the International entries and seeing how people decorate their spaces around the globe. Your kitchen looks inviting :-)

I LOVE how everything is so open, clean and bright. Your colors blend very well together..The kitchen is laid out perfectly and completely uncluttered. The bathroom looks calm and inviting like a spa. Well done!

How lovely! It's so uncluttered and nonchalant, but has a really cool edge. My first thought when seeing this post was that it had to be from somewhere outside the US -- I wonder if that's because of the fixtures, appliances, or the overall style.

Lovely!!
black&white&red kitchen is really innovating and has great modern look but in the same time is not so 'cold' as modern interiors used to be.
What I like the most is the 'home made' recover of the dresser in the badroom!
I like very much combination of old and modern style. Brilliant!

Gorgeous colors...especially love the runner on kitchen table and the pale blue vase and chair...very economical use of space...magnificent bedroom furniture...interesting artwork as well..very comfortable and cozy place (where one spends a third of one's life)...love the texture of the wallcovering...feels traditional yet warm and inviting...as does the kitchen.
Brava!

I like bedroom best. It seems to say: you`re tired, no problem stay with us....and I am sure everybody would feel calm and like "at home"
Look at the graphics on the wall.......To create such an interior you must be special!

What a great place! Very nice and extraordinary colors, I would surely apply this in my flat (also is small). Brilliant old furniture (was it hand-made) - it seems so. I am impressed.
