Nice Design Low Cost is a brand that has a new collection, #1 Kitchen, by Italian designer Gianna Farina. I really hope they're serious about the low cost bit. The collection caught my eye in November's Dwell because of its blocky shape and rustic wood - just what I am looking for in a kitchen table.
This piece is actually a kitchen, though, with an integral cooktop and sink. The rustic wood is from special sources: salvage from a Hungarian castle, oak from Slovenia. The collection is available through Tikkapa in Milan, but with a little ingenuity could be reproduced here in the Big Apple.

Tyrza, looks like a shallow sink could fit and not stick out beyond the table's apron. and maybe the sink's pipes are plumbed inside the wall? not very practical, but it can be done.
Hmmm, that's a shallow sink! I'm thinking it's like those ads for desks with a pristine laptop sitting on them, and it looks great until you realize they removed all the cords etc.

But I think the same as Tyrza where are the pipes? And the sink is so flat to be useful...
the design lives because dyson sucks, ronco sucks, gravity sucks.
