2004_10_27_hard1.gifThey do things bigger on the west coast. Liz's Antique Hardware is a great resource for just the type of vintage hardware that New York apartments love. With a collection of more than a million pieces of salvaged hardware (circa 1850 to 1970), LA has hardware for doors, windows and furniture. They also carry lighting, bath accessories, and "other things that catch our eye."

Prices run from $6 for a doorstop to $12,000 for an art deco ceiling lighting fixture, and everything is orderable online. Of course, they don't have everything online, but they have a good amount and it is very nicely laid out so you can find things quickly. MGR

I wish the medicine cabinet wasn't so expensive!

Liz started out in Chicago long, long ago- and is one of the few women in the salvage business.
She is one of the most ethical players I have ever met in a business rampant with dirty dealing. She treats her employees well- and her customers better. She makes great quality repros and sells only legal acquired originals.

This looks great. We're adding it to our permanent links. Thanks, AT!

I would put a visit to Liz's near the top of any LA tourist itinerary. Even if you are not renovating it is incredible to just wander through their rooms and rooms of stuff. They put all of the comparable NYC businesses to shame in terms of selection and, usually, price.

am uch smaller but eqally cool shop is architectural Salvage in San Diego. I think its on India in Little Italy. Veyr cool. I bought a row of four movie theater chairs on a whim and spent months trying to get it back to the Bay area, but they are awesome.
