MEM Showerhead

mem showerhead.jpgThat rainfall in the background is a shower. Straining the boundaries of plumbing, we found the MEM showerhead in .I.D. Magazine this weekend, and had to look twice. Sitting flush with the ceiling, the MEM contains LED's, audio speakers, and PERFUME EMITTERS (!) and can be programmed to mimic mist, light rain or a heavy downpour. While this might be just a bit over the top, the idea of water falling from the ceiling is awesome. And heck, with the money saved on not needing a shower curtain, this shouldn't strain the budget. See manufacturer for price: Dornbracht.

Best. Shower. Ever!

Although, yes, it is rather over the top. You don't need a shower curtain only if you've got a giant basin under the shower installation [I don't think it can really be called a shower head], and *nothing* around it. The splashing off your body will reach at least 3 to 4 feet in every direction. Considering how long I'd stay in that shower, my place would flood every morning =)

It took the longest time for this to become commercially available. I had fallen in love with it and determined to get it, whatever the price.

However, $14,000 is a bit too much to spend for a single showerhead.

Download the video for the MEM collection. It is completely sexy and European --like an art film from the 50's. The model reeks of 'philosophy student at the Sorbonne.'

Kohler's equivalent suite, the Purist, has a similar video, with an attractive model in a nightgown. However, she acts like a biochemist from a health education video. Dornbracht for me!
