February is Bedroom Month! How Much Do You Sleep?

Welcome back everyone. Every winter we take a tour of bedrooms, digging up all the best resources, ideas, inspirations and products to share with each other. We're also looking for bedrooms to feature...

If you've got a great bedroom, freshen it up, take a picture and send it to us with any ideas or sources that you found really helpful. We'll send everyone we post a personal thank you and an AT t-shirt of your choice (email to newyork @ apartmenttherapy .com or any of our city site addresses).

In the meantime, tell us how much time you get to sleep at night. When we worked as a teacher, we polled our faculty and found the average was about 6 hours a night, which made us tired just thinking about it. We include two surveys here. One for how many hours you get and the other for how many hours you THINK is the best.

I'd love to sleep 7.5 or even 9, but the Cashmere's wants me to get up, so she does things to make me wake up. Once awake, there's only so much lying in bed I can do....

Can we get credits for this room? I'd love to know where that coral-colored quilt at the bottom of the bed is from.

I agree though, I wouldn't want to sleep here. But how cute for a little girl to have a sofa that can act as a daybed for sleepovers?

i have a disorder where i don't go into rem as much as a normal person (amoung other things). so, making my bedroom PERFECT for sleep has been a major work in progress. i can't enter this month b/c i'm moving, but i'm excited about seeing the entries & sharing my new place next time. :)

things that worked for my room:
*blocking out light from the street lamp along w/ a silk eye pillow
*no tv!
*keeping stressors out. no studying & no reading in my bed. i used to do that ALL THE TIME.
*good sheets

things i need help with & would love at to cover:
*alternative bedside "tables". my bed will be in a cubby when i move & i'll only have 20 extra inches on one side for a table. i'm considering table alternatives b/c it's so small. how about some cheap, creative solutions?
*pillows- how do you find good ones & keep them in good shape?
*i'm moving to an open, studio. how do you manage to keep space open, but still create a sanctuary for sleep, a place away from the rest?

--ok, going to bed now. :P

mariegael, what about putting shelves on the sides for beside tables? you could basically use some wood (stain it/lacquer it/paint it) and shelving brackets. that doesn't give you closed storage, but stacking a box or two underneath in the same style would solve the problem.

20 inches sounds large enough like it would be possible to find some night stands for it, though.

Just reading this makes me tired, thinking of how I got about 5 or 6 last night. I think my optimal is 9...I never get that, except on weekends.

Sorry but I disagree about the bedroom. It is bright and fresh and sophisitcated enough for a single adult. I think it would be fun to wake up to this room.
