Walking down Park Avenue South past the Ligne Roset store, you can't NOT turn your head and look in at the inventive, elegant and (dare I say it?) comfortable modern furniture on display. A favorite with clients, Ligne-Roset offers everything from coffee tables that transform to dining height, big soft, colorful chairs, cool lighting, and uniquely styled couches that leave Crate & Barrel standing in the dust.

Problems? One reader has used the words "over priced," "bad" customer service and "Late, late, late" furniture delivery. You will pay for the style as prices are high. Also, most upholstery is made of poly based fabrics and poly cushions, so this is not furniture you will hand down to your grandchildren. "Shiny and new" is the best look for this "unique" modern. Beds @ $2,500 - Sofas @ $3,000 - lounge chairs @ $1,500.

I have only purchased a magazine stand from the SoHO store, but they were great to me and the item arrived about when they said it would. Keep in mind this is furniture, folks, and the category is notorious for long long lead times.
I have to agree with patrick... I recently purchased several pieces from Ligne. I found their customer service to be excellent, especially when compared to other higher-end retailers. Delivery was actually a bit earlier than quoted, and was typical for custom-ordered upholstered pieces. The lead time was actually less than Room & Board which is shocking considering that's made in the USA.
Anyway, quality is MUCH better than the usual mass brands (Crate & Barrel, R&B, etc.) and I think as well made as my old B&B Italia sofa. And yes the goods are comfortable.
The pictures referenced above are not really representative of their current looks which have a lot of gorgeous ebonized oak and have less of that hot-in-the-80s-now-looks-like-Ikea steel tube and blonde wood pieces.
If you go, ask for Francois. He's extremely gracious and helpful.
This is one of my favorite furniture stores. Unfortunately I can't afford anything there. I have seen a few knock offs out there, but the quality just isn't there. Tho their prices are a bit better than B&B Italia where I recently saw a sofa for $17,000.
To TeoNYC's point, the caliber of furniture is higher than most other retailers.
To efb's point, they're also much more expensive.
Proving, yet again, when it comes to furniture, most of the time the "you get what you pay for" rule applies.
Didier Gomez, repsonsible for much (if not most) of L-R's furniture, is an artist and magician.
I worship at the at design altar that is Ligne Roset. They are pricey, but man, the stuff is just incredible. I'm currently strung out on this tea table and low chairs (combined price about 6k for 4 chairs). I'm trying to find knock offs but no luck so far.
I am one of the owners of the New York Ligne Roset stores and would love for the customer who wrote "bad customer service" and "late late late" to contact me directly at lmessman@lignerosetny.com. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and are often complimented on it. We also are over 99% on time. Almost unheard of in this industry. Lastly, we have no sofas at anywhere near the $17,000.00, thank goodness!
Help! My new home in rural Mississippi is nearing completion, and all the good stores I counted on are still suffering Katrina damage! No tile, no bamboo, no shoji screens anywhere to be found, and no one who'll deliver to my place. Please tell me I can at least get my Maly bed delivered out here to the woods.
Here lately i have educated myself with the fine qualities of ligne and roset. And i have to say that i am very pleased. I have no problems working hard to be able to create my home and furnish it with this type of design. Once again i am very pleased and cant wait to start collecting.
I have been purchasing Ligne Roset furniture since 1997.I'm addicted. I work with Mark in the SoHo store. He has always been a pleasure to work with. Service is wonderful.Their collections are beautiful. I recently needed a new sofa but Ligne Roset did not have the exact look I wanted so I went to Campaniello, they carry Il Loft. They are such horrible people to work with. They act as if they are doing you a favor allowing you into their store. I will wait forever for Ligne Roset to come out with a line I want.
I have been looking for a platform bed for a while and came accross this Ligne Roset Furniture. I could not find any prices online and I guess I should start saving my money(more than I expected to pay for it) and go down to the store in DC. I also want to say that the style reminds me little bit of Ikea, but I don't want to offend anybody.
i prefer maurice villency
I just bought the Lumeo bed from the Ligne Roset store in Georgetown. They were wonderful to deal with and it was delievered and installed about 8 weeks after I placed the order. They also said I could send it back to them if I was not pleased. It is beautiful and the quality is as expected. The mattress is so comfortable!
I am now considering the Nomade or the Fugue sofas. Can't make up my mind and need to shake the money tree in back yard. I used up my yearly clothing allowance on the bed!
i love the store, but i love the similar look and definitely better prices at doorstore . ligne is too expensive for me. doorstore has no assembly or delivery.
Ligne Roset is Great! I mean I live in New york and the style is perfect. Also I have a small apartment, so items like the crescendo and the yo-yo coffee table that turns into a dining table is just what I need. I also know that places like Maurice Villency as well as door store (ugh) Is way overpriced and it just doesnt look good. When I think of Ligne Roset, I fell like finally a product that I can believe in, and yes the togo I will be able to give this to my grandchildren. Also I must say, I know the pillows are made of down feathers on all of their pieces as well as a very high density foam on their seating. This is because I read the information in their amazing catalog. Wow, I think I should submit a resume to these people.
The staff at the Ligne Roset soho store is so snooty and condescending. It almost makes it not worth it.

The man who owns the Philadelphia location is not very pleasant to deal with. He lists his never working cell phone # as the phone number for the store itself- are you kidding me?
