apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Flickr Find: Bathroom at Ye Olde Carlton Arms

This small bathroom is really a jolt of visuals: those bright red walls are one thing. The built-in curio cabinet housing odds and ends is another...

This was snapped in the bathroom at Ye Olde Carlton Arms in New York. The little shelves are so shallow and their contents so patterned, it almost stands in for wallpaper in this particular application. We can imagine doing this in a stark white space with colorful little objects collected from over the years.

urrrgh... while i am into the curio idea (have a couple around the house myself) that color makes me want to pray to the porcelain goddess, which handily enough is right there!

Fantastic. Looks like the contents of the secret drawer I had in third grade.

I love this. I could live without the orange, but in a small space, like a powder room, thats awesome.

If you think this is out of control, check out the gallery of the way the rooms are decorated.

Personally, I love staying at the Carlton Arms, but there are very few rooms I would want to replicate at home.

This is horrible, but fascinatingly so... the kind of thing that makes me think I've been transported to a strange place in another time. So actually I kind of love it!
