Another mini-slideshow! More readers are posting well-edited mini-slideshows of their homes online!
Beanfig shows us that she is not afraid of color and has a knack for successfully mixing in
Ikea furnishings. Even though there are only five photos (7 if you count the dog pics!), Beanfig takes photos that help us understand the general layout of her rooms...
ummm... she is one of our LA color contestants. wondering if you knew that?
Whelp, I guess if we can't be finalists in the Fall Colors contest (sigh), this recognition is lovely, too - and such a surprise! I was looking for a contest update and just happened to be checking out the NYC AT site when, as I scrolled, I was shocked to see that photo of our living room on the homepage! At first I got all excited 'cause I thought we were being announced as an honorable mention, but alas - this will have to do. :)
Thanks so much for the acknowledgment, guys! We really love our little place - I'll be posting more photos soon (I wanna put some up of the paint job I did in the bathroom) Cheers!
Where, oh where, did you get that headboard? Is it a headboard. Love it! Please tell...
And Gina, where did you get the flower art (both sets)?
Thanks!
andy - it is a malm bed - the over the bed table is part of the whole group of malm - they have an even cooler headboard now with shelves that come out of the sides on wheels - al very sleek in three colors of wood.
wish i didnt have a west elm piece of crap
Gina--your place is gorgeous. Very restful. The colors very lovely and soothing. The place has such a warm, eclectic look!
What is on the wall behind your tv? Is it fabric? Paint, and if so, what color/technique?
Sassy's right - it is the Malm bed. We LOVE it. It's just as lovely as some we looked at for 3x the price, so who cares if it's from Ikea?! The flower prints in both the bedroom and the kitchen are from Ikea as well. Ikea is God's gift to the budget decorator!
As for what's on the wall behind the TV - we're fortunate enough to live in a 1920's building w/very textured walls which lend themselves nicely to a variety of paint techniques. The wall of the alcove is quite "bumpy" - I painted it with the remainder of the warm yellow from the kitchen, and then just (very sloppily, I might add) ragged a metallic gold paint over it. The texture of the wall really held the gold paint so well & the lights I installed above highlight it beautifully (lights are from Ikea, as well). I was flying by the seat of my pants on that one, so I heaved a huge sigh of relief when it came out exactly as I'd hoped it would.
Thanks so much for the positive feedback!
I agree - very nice! I love your dining corner - I'd love to eat breakfast there :) Love the colors - so cheery and still calming. I just painted my kitchen yellow and put purpley sheers from IKEA on the frosted window - I'm loving pale yellow with plum/purple right now.
And I love the Malm series too :p I use that bedside table as a dressing table/vanity with a door mirror hung horizontally over it.
