apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Flickr Finds: Cillastar's Orange Crush

Speaking of ORANGE, Cillastar's living room is a dazzling display of it. An excellent photographer with a Sony DSC-P41 and a bright and welcoming apartment, Cillastar's pics caught our eye for the boldness with which she has accented her living room walls, while using restraint everywhere else. On this page are all the thumbnails that lead you through her apartment. She has not collected this into a photoset, so we collected a few of them for you below. (Thanks, Priscilla!)

I love this as well. Wasn't it in the 2005 Smallest Coolest contest?

I love the coffee table - anyone know where I can get one?

I also want that coffee table! Where's it from?

I love the boldness of the place - the stripes and color are great. One question: how do you get away with not having any rugs on your floor? (I am jealous.)

WOW! Just came by today to see this! The wall and I are both flattered! I was in the 2005 SCC but at the time all of the walls in the livingroom were red/orange. I liked it for about a month, but it began to feel like a cave.

The color is "red dragon" by Behr. It is a tad deeper/redder in person.

The table is vintage IKEA. A hand-me-down from my mom.

Yes, the cords are an eye sore. I've been too lazy to find a way of hiding them.

Our floors are not as shiny as them seem in the photos. We use Murphy's oil soap about once a month. We had rugs, but they actually were scratching the polyurethane and made the room feel smaller.

I plan on painting stripes in my bedroom. Maybe a cream on cream or a flat base with latex stripes?

Hey Cilla! I love your apartment!! I need something to decorate my house like this!! LOL!! Our house is 3 years old and we are still slowly trying to decorate it all ... but I get so impatient!! LOL
I love the stripes!!

Cilla, might I suggest wireloom for all your wire-hiding needs. I bought a few of them from homedepot. Great place!

Hi Cilla,
You have such a great sense of style and color.
Is that grey or taupe that alternates with the red stripes?

...another Cilla?? Woah.

Thanks Nathalie!

Thanks for the tip, Steve-O.

I can't really describe the color. It's more on the taupe side than gray.

I like the orange/red chairs... where are they from?

They're from seventhavenue.com. I bought one for $200 and then they went on sale. Bought the other for $100.

Some people can't handle the boldness of Red but Cillastar does with aplomb.
