Flickr Finds: DIY Slipcovered Sofa

0715_pink1.jpg

That sofa pictured up there was purchased for $32. It's beautiful now, with it's white slipcover and pretty blue pillow. But look from what ashes this beauty arose...

The sofa's cushion is goose down and its nice compact size (5' wide) make it a great find. The finished product looks great with that buttery yellow wall paint. What a find! Via: pinkpicketfence's Flickr photostream.

Very pretty! The sofa has beautiful lines, I can see what the attraction was (despite that awful Monet-esque floral fabric). Love the long pillow, also.

I think it looked nicer before the slipcover.

Wow, so inspiring! But I'll admit I do think it was also cute before.

I'm partial to the before, too. Everyone does a white slipcovered sofa, but you have such a unique fabric there, so pretty (and, though it's always hard to tell in pictures, looks like it would look nice in the room, too). But the slipcover is elegant, well made. Nice lines either way!

What a surprise to find my little old sofa here. :) Thank you. Goodness, what a compliment.

As for the Before fabric... it was cute, but very beat up! More than a little torn at the corners and such, and a stained in spots. The slipcover was a must. I was talked out of making a deep pink one, but I haven't ruled that out for future versions... ;)

Thanks again. xo

I personnally am not fond of the original "Monet-but-not-quite" 1980s fabric. The slipcover was a good idea : it even enhances the elegant shape of the seat.

MissChris, do you mind letting us know how much the goose down cushion cost you? It looks SO comfortable! I wanted to get that look on the last sofa I redid, and fell well short of what you've done...

Yes, please tell us how you did that slipcover: it's a beautiful job.

Beautiful! I'm green with envy. My sofa is horrible, but I have no sewing skills.

"It's beautiful now, with it's white slipcover ..."

Should read, "It's beautiful now, with its white slipcover..."

Guys, please watch out for misused contractions as you edit your posts! The constant misuse of "it's" on this site makes me sad.

I'd like to find out about the slipcover. I have some pieces I'd like covered but all the quotes are really expensive.

misschris, it is beautiful, do share what type of fabric you used and where you got it.

I think I've seen the fabric on the rectangular pillow on Reprodepot.com, it just might be a Amy Butler...

I like the old fabric too. Too bad it's worn out. I also thought the slipcovered sofa with the long pillow looked like it was friendly and smiling! I love happy furniture. I just really like that pillow too. Happy smiling sofa makes me like this post.

Beautiful result. I had a sofa similar with down cushions that I wanted to slipcover, but the quotes I got to do it were well over $500, and I that not including the fabric!

Definitely a beaut, now with the slipcover. The scalloped back makes it very special. Lovely job.

Just one suggestion -- how about scalloping the skirt, too, to match the original lines too? Then it would really be primo!

I also love the window treatments ~ can you let me know the source of the drapes, rods, and holdbacks? Thank you!

Incredibly inspiring. The colors of the pillow are gorgeous and really "make" the look. Bravo/Brava
