We don't know where irksomecushion lives, [Irksome's in New Haven, CT!] but he caught our eye this week with his excellent grasp of how to oppose large and small elements in a room as well as with his DIY ingenuity in fashioning his own floorlamp.

irksomecushion is obviously on a tight budget, but he's got style, and it shows. With just a few possessions (and flowers!), his home is personal, interesting and inviting. We want to know more. See all the pics here.
that pic caught my eye too yesterday, very fun and creative.
I love the shots and I love irksomecushion's handle!
irksomecushion sounds like the name of an Edward Gorey book.
Meanwhile, the low budget is not REALLY all that obvious since everything looks good.
Indeed, Curtis, my moniker was inspired by my love for Gorey (see "The Curious Sofa") but is not an actual quote.
As for my budget, pretty much everything visible in these pictures is salvaged. The print is my own recreation of a Milton Glaser poster (please don't sue me, Milt).
I should also mention that this is actually a college dorm room, around 400 sq. ft.
Wow, irksomecushion, now I'm even more impressed. Fantastic job! My college dorm was basically a white box with terrible architecture, but even starting with the room you have (and the fireplace), you have done a great job. Love your aesthetic!
Fantastic! You've got quite an eye for styling and a great sensibility. Beautiful. I'm truly inspired by these pics...
