Graphic silhouettes of trees and plants adorn K/B's apartment. From throw pillows to the walls to a painting over the bed, these shapes of nature look fantastic with the bright wall color and the similar lines in bamboo beside the bed and the Fold bedlinens. Check out the throw pillows after the jump.

Gorgeous space! I especially love the use of birch wood logs as tables. Was that your own doing? And do elaborate on your art. Really lovely...
I think the "painting" over the bed is actually Marimekko fabric on stretchers. I have it hanging over my bed in green! Was super cheap and easy to do.
Great space.
I did something very similary to your birch tables. This summer my neighbour cut down their tree (don't know what kind) but it was wide enought to be used as a side table (like yours). I sanded it a bit, stained it a dark walnut and sealed it with epoxy to make it super shiny. Looks great! (but now - I think I'll keep my eyes open for birch) Entire project cost about $20, its one of-a-kind and looks awesome.
Love the space!!
Where did you get the white shelf and the candles above the bed? Haven't been able to find something skinny I like until I saw yours. :)
*So* nice! I, too, am obsessed with wintry tree silhouettes right now -- I just ordered the Marimekko fabric and stretchers and can't wait to put it up. Where are the throw pillows from? And what's the yummy caramel-colored paint on the living room walls? I used Benjamin Moore's "Monroe Bisque," but it's really insipid compared to the lovely, rich color you used. Please share your sources!
I loved this place when K/B entered the Smallest Coolest Contest. I saved pics and paint colors from it in my idea folder!
This place looks beautiful! Does anyone know where I can buy the tree silhouette fabric? (I looked on the Marimekko site, couldnt find it.) Thanks...
What is that glowing glass block item on the bedside table in the first picture above? Is that a light?
Textile Arts has the fabric and a kit for making a wall hanging.

Can you tell me what shade of red/coral that is (and brand) on teh bedroom walls and also what shade brown did you use on the other walls. Also, do you like them now that you've lived with them? I've been looking for the perfect shades of dark coral and brown and am having trouble.
Lindsey:
You said its easy to create this wall art. How is it done? Where did you purchase the fabric and the stechers. Thanks
Thanks for the feedback everyone. We're really most happy w/ our new protein furniture investments since the Smallest Coolest Contest. The Ona Sofa and Soto Chair from Room & Board.
The "art work" above the bed is indeed Marimekko fabric on 4' x 5' stretcher bars- but we actually used the stronger & thicker upholstery fabric.
The shelf above the bed is a basic 4"-deep shelf from West Elm. The black votive candle thingys are cheap-o decorations from the candle section of Bed Bath & Beyond... in the center of the shelf is Adam Frank's Lumen Tree (which actually just got into the new DWR catalogue!).
The birch logs were our idea... we're from the Midwest, and the logs are straight from the woods of the Upper Pennisula in Michigan. They're just rough cuts, no sanding... scars and all.
The pillows on the sofa are from a small Asian textiles/fabric/accessory store on Bleeker St (close to Christopher) in West Village... don't remember the name of the store, but at the time when we got them (2 months ago) the pillows were on display in the window.
And the light on the side table... bulb in glass ("ice") block is from Urban Outfitters ($40.00)... but the MoMA Store also has one at double the price.
The paint colors are all Ralph Lauren-
-Carmel in Livingroom: Poplar Island
-Dark Brown in Livingroom: Traditional
-Red in Bedroom: Modern Rose
Finally, one of our favorite new accessories in the apartment- "Brooklyn" trays on the storage cubes by Fishys Eddy near Union Square.
Anyway- questions answered we hope! Thanks for all the feedback... keep the suggestions and questions coming.
