Beautiful photos. I can see many of these rooftops from my office building in SoHo and gaze at them longingly.
I can tell you that some of the topless and sometimes naked sunbathers on these roofs cause quite the stir in the office, too!

Apparently there are a lot of rooftop and terrace gardens in Manhattan. I met someone once whose business was to maintain rooftop gardens and terraces. He wasn't rich, but he made a good living from it.

Those photos are so vibratized they look like drawings.

I saw one years ago where a whole house (with porch, etc.) was built on the roof. Anyone know where that was? I can't remember what neighborhood we were in. Perhaps many rich people have done that anyway ;-)

ridge van winkle...there is one on the northwest corner of 1st Street and 1st Avenue and one on top of the Kiehl's building at 13th Street and 3rd Avenue....both links are to posts on curbed where they have even more examples...

Aaron, thanks! It's the 3rd Avenue one I saw. I almost said somewhere east of gramercy or union square, but I wasn't sure.
