OK, so it's not a flowerbox. We just couldn't resist awarding this week's honor to the two buildings at 71 and 73 St. Marks Place because they are covered from top to bottom with wisteria vines. And right now the vines are in full bloom. If you stand outside the buildings and watch people pass, you'll see everyone stops to look. Some people even smile. This is why we honor those who bring color and life to this concrete jungle. Whether it's a pansy in a lone flowerbox or four-story blossoming vines - we applaud you all. SKGR

Thank you for answering our question! I am not a stranger to St. Marks, but usually don't go down as far as this building. Tonight my friend and I did stop and "Ooooh" and "Aaaah" at the vines trying to figure out exactly what it was since until we realized just how far it went, we thought it was a tree. It is gorgeous, and everyone should see it. Although I did wonder if the people who live right in front of it get sick of people staring at their windows commenting on it. Sorry to you if you do feel this way, but you've got a vine there.
