To All Flower Box Awards

It was important to us that we keep an urban feel... modern but comfortable. After a harrowing ride back from the Flower District in a taxi full of jiggling pottery we bought at Jamali Garden, we were on our way.

Allie sowed two windowboxes with basil, mint, cilantro, and chives
seeds, which provide us not only with lush greenery, but have helped
support several great dinner parties this summer. I filled our planters with Heliotropium, Verbena, Helichrysum, Lavandula and several varieties of Angelonia. The effort has resulted in an outdoor room that encourages us to observe the movements of the City while being placidly removed from it -- a space we've enjoyed for morning coffee, afternoon sun and late night drinks all summer long.

With the long days of summer quickly fading, we're looking forward to
preparing new plantings for the holidays. And we're already thinking
ahead to next spring and how we'll expand upon what we learned puttering among the plants in our sunny, breezy terrace-room this first year.
