Do you ever see things in New York that make you feel like you’re in a different city? This week I was at a great new bookstore on Prince near Mulberry called McNally Robinson and noticed the two-floor spread across the street.
Am I in New York, I thought to myself? Is this New Orleans? Paris? London? There's something different about this spread. And so, this week’s flowerbox award goes to 53-55 Prince Street, a building that made me feel like I was somewhere else. Sometimes, in New York, that’s reason enough to give an award.

And that rainbow flag officially heralds in Pride Month! Whoo-hooo!!
Patrick - it's actually a peace flag -- too bad Americans can't take any pride in that lately.
And not to be a further downer, any "obstruction" on a fireplace is subject to removal if the local fire dept comes by for inspection. I know from first hand experience -- they took flower boxes away from my fire escape several years ago.
Um, what makes that a peace flag exactly?
It is an anti Bush flag. They are all over Dowtown NYC. It says, "We the people say NO to the Bush agenda" over a field rainbow backround.
Because of my associations and familiarity with that flag, I've assumed that even the ones with the anti-Bush writing were hoisted on specific behalf of a very specific group of "we, the people"...
that Frank dude is a downer.
