Because when you love a plant, grow it. I noticed these flowerboxes last
summer, when they were filled with the same deep purple, delicate Oxalis
(clover) as they are this year. I had just discovered the plant myself and
was growing it in pots in my apartment, so I felt a kinship with these
anonymous neighbors.
This year, as I was trolling for award-winning boxes,
I was pleased to see the tenants were growing it again, and exclusively. If
you really love a certain plant, why not grow it unabashedly? SKGR

Gold and green oxalis often carpets the East Bay in the spring, and is one of my favorite signs of home. I had no idea that this purple-leaved, white flowered variety exists. I think oxalis is slightly different from clover, a kind of sorrel. The stems are delightfully sour to suck on.
