Good Questions: Good Custom Cabinets?

I've been procrastinating about having some custom built-in cabinets/shelves made and was wondering if anyone has a great carpenter they can whole-heartedly recommend. My apartment is in the West Village...

Surprise, surprise... I found that Manhattan Cabinetry was more affordable and produced a better finished product than Knossos. I brought in a photograph of a wall panel/cabinet combo from DDC and they were able to reproduce it to my exact measurements and finish. I had looked at Knossos, and MDC (on Broadway at 21st Street) before settling on Manhattan Cabinetry. Don't be put off by the eighties-feeling displays or over-the-top inlay designs. They can craft well finished modern furniture.

Freestyle Custom Furniture to me had the best service out of all of them. They arent as big as other shops which is good because they can give you their undivided attention. They replicated exactly what I wanted from a magazine. Prices where better and more reasonable than Manhattan Cabinetry and other high end shops. I highly recommend them.
