With all due respect - it's not just a great time of year - it's a great time of century. It's amazing what the deepest recession in 80 years will do for deflation in discretionary consumer goods. Sadly, I think we'll see quite a lot more of that.

anyone had any experience with the bed from west elm? I love the design but I've heard bad things about west elm quality...

If you're able to go to a showroom, I would. West Elm furniture might look good in a photo, but it can be really uncomfortable and cheap-looking. I wouldn't make a major purchase like a bed without checking it out in person.

Not to sound like some one's crabby grandma but...I could see the first time some one sits on the West Elm bed to take their shoes off and leaves dirt all over the skirt part.....
I guess you could scotch guard it.

I also heard that the West Elm quality was not good for their beds. However, after going to the store and wiggling the beds, I decided it seemed sturdier than Ikea, at very least. As a result, I purchased a bed from West Elm on sale last year, and have been very happy with it (especially as not many other furniture retailers sell cal king sized frames)

With so many small apts. in NYC I'm always surprised that most beds only come in queen or larger. I can't fit a queen size bed in my tiny place. I'm jonesing for a beautiful, affordable full size bed.

anne - check out beds at eq3...usually affordable and most all of them come in full/double. Let me know which ones you are interested in and i can get you quotes. i am in maryland but can get it to you pretty easily in nyc - i am linked to a store in nyc.

Does anyone know a where I can get an upholstered slipcover custom made for the West Elm bed? We're not excited about how the white looks in our room (we weren't into the espresso suede or steel suede--the other two options). Thanks...

The last time BrocadeHome offered stuff for 50% they didn't ship 95% of it and took months to refund people's money before opening up a month after closing and selling the exact same stuff. Restoration Hardware (runs BrocadeHome) has no respect for the customers; you get what you pay for here.

We have 2 West Elm bed frames in our house and they're fine. I have no complaints. I'm not sure what the other commenter's experiences were.
