apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Joseph Murphy: Custom Furniture Maker
Architectural Digest Home Design Show 2009

Perusing the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, we were immediately drawn to the work of Annapolis-based Joseph Murphy — his designs on display were of a much smaller (apartment-friendly!) scale than much of the products at this show. Our favorite piece of his was the Two Steps Forward Console beautifully handcrafted from a combination of Walnut, Douglas Fir and Ebony...

We love the three, different width drawers and the contrast of the two woods in the dovetail joinery. You can see some of Joseph's inspiration, design process and construction on his site.

Yup, this is something that will still be cherished 100 and more years from now. Also, it would go wonderfully with quality furnity from any period.
