Tucked away on 18th Street, just east of 8th Avenue, Robert and Paul have run an antique and collectible shop, Authentiques, since 1976. Paul does most of the buying and travels through Pennsylvania, Jersey, Florida and Massachusetts to keep the shop well stocked with vintage (50’s, 60’s, 70’s) glass-wear, lamps, New York post cards, ocean liner memorabilia, salt & pepper shakers and much much more.

Martha Stewart and Paul Smith are among their loyal customers, while J.Crew recently stopped in to stock up on vintage Christmas ornaments for their 2008 catalogue shoot.

This is exactly the type of place I would've been a bit intimidated to walk into on a whim. I probably have walked by it many times over the years. Somehow it looks much snootier on the outside than on the inside. Thanks for showing it to us so that we know there's nothing to be afraid of.
