We were excited to stumble upon the etsy shop of one our favorite Brooklyn ceramic designers, Lorena Barrezueta. We've long admired her take-away container inspired Gourmet Collection, so we were delighted to see the deals at her Samples, Seconds, and Surprises etsy shop.
We first spotted Lorena's work at The Future Perfect. The process of creating the dishes is all hand-done and extremely labor intensive. We love how texture is only on the inside of the dish, while the smooth outside gives it a polished look. In fact, Lorena developed the method of casting the dishes through trial and error, even after being told that it was impossible.

To be honest, I've never been sold on this concept b/c I prefer that the texture be on the outside of the dish with a smooth interior. It'd be much easier to clean that way, and you would also get the tactile experience when holding the dish.

I think these are gorgeous. Whimsical but completely utilitarian. The concept is marvelous. Great job! Are there serving platters along these lines? I'd totally buy one. Or five.
