Speaking of reusing wine bottles, we love the recycled appeal of Transglass by Artecnica. By Emma Woffenden and Tord Boontje, the truly recycled, handcrafted glassware comes in greens, clears, and browns.

We always liked the clear glass only, but these pieces are pulling us over to the darker green and brown glass, too. These really inspire and add fuel to the fire of learning to cut bottles down ourselves.
For those in Bostonland, Greenward in Cambridge (Mass Ave. outside of Porter Square) carries a selection of these wares. Even more beautiful in person.

Wee! In Toronto you can purchase a kit to make your own at the workroom, where there are also occasional classes so you can make these with an instructor if you are afraid of trying by yourself.

Also in Boston-- Fiddlehead on Newbury St carries these as well. They're gorgeous in person, so well-made.

I bought a bottle cutter kit by Ronco at the thrift store. It is the the same kit from the cheesy commercials I would see on TV in the 70's and while it worked "alright" it definitely inspired me to get a better kit and try out some more projects come spring.
