We did some digging right here on AT over at The Kitchn where it seems like a lot of commenters are firm believers in the values of decanting, so we think might be justified in springing for this decanter. We're hopeful that it will improve our usual Trader Joe's wine, and it will also look pretty nice on the table.

• As part of a discussion about bag-in-a-box wine, Herzleid suggested using a decanter rather than attempting to bring the box to the table


• In another Kitchn discussion about Best Pinot Noir Under $20, robertcraig suggested his under $20 pick: 2006 Mark West Pinot from Oregon The secret is to decant the bottle a good 5-6 hours or more before you drink it. (If your decanter has a cork or stopper, decant it t 10-12 hours with the top on.) Let it sit and mellow and will definietly be one of the best glasses of red for under 20


• In a wine of the week discussion about Vino: 2002 Produttori del Barbaresco, Raoul commented: We opened the bottle and noticed immediately that the wine was very closed, chalky and tart. I suggested that we pour the wine into a decanter and let it breath. We swirled the wine around in the decanter somewhat aggressively and a few minutes later were drinking a different wine.
