Hello AT,
We have a very small and awkwardly shaped glass entry way and would like to get a narrow console table to put behind the door so we can drop keys there and pus some plants higher up. I haven't been able to find anything appropriate or interesting for a MAXIMUM 10" x 45" space, except the Hola Y Adios Entry table at DWR, but I don't think it can mount to glass! (And I don't want to spend $600 on half a table) Any ideas??
Thanks, Stephanie

Dear Stephanie,
We love the Hola Y Adios table and have bought it a number of times for clients for the very reason that slim tables are so hard to find.
One idea to solve the low price point problem would be to buy an affordable table or even a thrift store table, cut it down and paint it.
As for mounting to glass, if it wasn't a great deal of weight, we would use a long strip of velcro on the glass and on the table to hold up the backside. The two front legs should do the rest.
Anyone else? Slim Console tips?
try the slim series at room & board - compact dimensions and nice price... you can paint it if the finish is too bland.
good luck!

Many gateleg tables fold down to about that size, and as a bonus, they can be used for dining/workspace when unfolded.

What about mounting a shelf suspended from the ceiling by picture wire? You could stabilize it with tiny suction cups on the back of the shelf, and maybe even add 2-3 shelves....

Might not be what you are looking for, but what about something modern and cool with suction cups, like what goes in a shower? There are a lot of acrylic cups & tubes that attach the same way. Just a thought.

This table from Exposureonline.com is intended for a side table, but could serve your purpose as well. (It's one inch over your max size though!) Available in 2 finishes.
Here's the description from the site: This elegant small table has curved legs and an ultra narrow silhouette. Made in Italy of slightly distressed solid beech and maple with a natural wax finish. The full-depth drawer has an antiqued-brass knob. This piece makes a superb nightstand when space is at a premium. Sorry, Air Express not available. 11" wide x 27" high x 28" deep.

what'd i do in your situation is make your own! with acrylic! it's easy to get the pieces cut to size, and the "glue" that bonds the material together is very strong. plus, it'd be clear, not obstructing the view/light/airy feeling of your entry.

oh, and with the plants: maybe a modern take on the macrame plant hanging thingy? with wire or fishing line? suspend it from above and they can float in front of the glass.

Here's what we did for a cheap entry table: we bought a Lack shelf and Vika Curry table legs from Ikea, and screwed the table legs into the bottom of the shelf. The screws didn't stay in very well, but if the table doesn't get moved or kicked or anything, it should be okay. We only used it for a few months, so I can't speak for longevity, but it served its purpose well.

How about a little Ikea DIY? Use the Lack wall shelf

and add legs

I would use a shorter open bookshelf for this space, it will give you more storage room than a console table. You could put shoes on the bottom, throw keys and loose items in bins in the middle and then put plants on the top.
Finding a 10" depth could be a bit of a challenge (if you can push it to 12" it would be much easier) but is probably easier than finding a console table that small. You may want to consider looking into those narrow metal shelves designed to hold plants on terraces too.

I was going to ask the same question!
I am in love with this one from CB2, but I need one a little less deep and a few inches less wide :(

I am looking for one with a metal frame and glass top, to be almost invisible. And I hate plexi.

based on the image of your glass entry way a little DIY with 80/20 and a custom cut stone or wood slab could be an option.
not instant gratification and not necessarily inexpensive, yet with a little planning could come in under budget with DIY satisfaction.
there is a PDF catalog available.

forgot to mention if the DIY thing is to much right now, you can also try.

BTW. drilling holes in glass and creating the image in the above site without the stick-on panel structures is also allowed.
