Bed, Bath & Beyond has some storage ottomans that are 15 inches wide and 15 inches high for $20.

I got a square black suede-ish one from Bed Bath and Beyond a year ago for $19.95. It's nice and small and came in other colors too.

Inexpensive storage ottomans should be easy to come by this time of year because a lot of college kids buy them for their dorm rooms.

They have several styles, coverings, and sizes. I have a bench in purple microfiber that I store hats in. They're pretty on the ball over there.
