Looks like one could be living their own nightmare. Dreaming that the bed you are sleeping on is headed "down the tracks." Is there any rhyme or reason for this? Certainly cleaning under a bed is the easiest of tasks. Or is this to be able to rearrange your bedroom on a daily/weekly basis?

Curious minds want to know.

creative*type, i have the same question. was the point of the exercise to re-imagine the original photo with a different set of parameters? could be an interesting challenge...

seems like it would be bad for sexy time. you'd drive it right into the adjacent wall.

emce, the wheels can lock, sexy time is ON! although they aren't cheap.

funstraw, you should lock just one wheel. Then see how many full revolutions of the bed you can get!

Or get two more friends and see which couple has the most "drive".

I love, love, LOVE casters. The industrial, but also sort of rustic wagon look so does it for me. I think this bed looks amazing!

Um, I think the post means to say "...brakes..." Call me pedantic if you will, but "breaks" is an entirely different word and it took me a minute to work out what the heck that sentence was supposed to mean.

That is amazing looking. I had a platform bed in my last home, DIYed from 2x4s and plywood. I used much cheaper and smaller casters, though.

Your bed is way better looking than mine ever was because the wheels you put on it are just gorgeous.

To answer some questions I pretty much duplicated the room from the original picture because unfortunately sometimes in design that is exactly what a client wants, an exact replica of a pretty picture they found in a magazine. The shelves are from West elm, I turned them sideway and mounted them on the wall... I ended up adding faux legs to the book shelves because it ended up looking too heavy to be "floating"... so I guess they were a west elm remix of some sort...

We have an IKEA platform bed mounted on casters from Harbor Freight. 3.5" I think, maybe 4" casters. The bottom of the frame clears the hardwood floor by an half inch or so. That's an option for those who like rolling furniture but may prefer not to see the wheels (but I love your bed).

I like rearranging the furniture and the bed gets moved all the time, sometimes aiming right at the French doors looking out on the deck, and sometimes tucked away a bit flush against a wall.

I was inspired by that original post here too, and this has inspired me to give it a go too. Thanks for sharing!
