Any idea of where I could get someone to build a shelving unit like the one on the emmerson troop (emmersontroop.com) website called cantilever bookcase. Thanks, Raquel
Many people could build these shelves, the question is for how much? Any way you slice it, these are diffficult shelves to do well, and you could do no better than to simply buy them through Emerson Troop. But if you want to adapt the design and try for something cheaper, Knossos Cabinetry at 538 6th Avenue between 14th and 15th will build anything you ask (212-242-0966). Does anyone have other ideas? I'm actually heading over to Wood-o-Rama on 108th Street to have them help me make some shelves I designed based on the Rakks shelving system that is sold at ShelfShop (1st Ave at 70th). They'd do the whole job, but I'm looking to economize, so I'm only having them cut the wood to size and make some cuts that I don't have the specialized tools for. The rest I look forward to doing myself.
If you're trying to economize, have you looked at Rakks online?

There is another cool shelving system called ISS Designs that is pretty nice. I built some bookshelves and a desk with their system. You can buy it online at www.issdesigns.com.
I was wanting to find someone who can give me an estimate on a bookcase in my area.
