Good Question: Where to Look for Stand-Up Desks?

1-8-standdesk.jpgHello AT, I am looking for a good source for a "stand-up" desk for my office. I understand that a standing workstation is better for people who have back pain and is good for productivity. The problem is that I am having a hard time finding anything remotely chic! Either the stand-up desks are too decorative/small/non-functioning (i.e. the Thomas Jefferson style which does not allow for much workspace and is very formal) or they are uber-industrial (i.e. designed for a factory foreman or industrial workstation). Any resources or thoughts? Much appreciated!
Thanks, Margo

Topdeq is the source for the Rede + Spinola standing desk pictured above. Additionally, there is an entire section of office furniture systems and a a few probably have standing desk options. We would also check out IKEA. They have a lot of customizable tables and desks that could be an inexpensive option for you. (though unfortunately, the stores always do a better job of organizing the products than the website). Anyone else? —aaron

Hi Margo,

Have you tried a large place like A.I. Friedman or Sam Flax? The A.I. Friedman website has several options from wood drafting tables to white topped ones with steal curved legs and bases. Nothing terribly dramatic, but there are a few I'd put in my house, and they are all very spacious withut being enormous. Good luck!

Anthro cart makes various computer workstations that are adjustable and stylish in a sort of industrial way.

The JERKER computer desk from IKEA is adjustable for standing or sitting.

I use trestles and a table top from Ikea for a desk. It's great for standing or using a stool-height desk chair.

im in love with this desk i found over at uncrate...its big surface and easily adjustable height make it a winner...i too have been looking for a tall standing desk as im 6'2" and nothing is ever comfortable for me. the only downside is the price, but for great design and quality, not to mention back relief, it might be worth it
