Hello AT,
I'm looking for a Chinese fireplace screen or mantel. I'm an interior design student at NYSID and I have to design a living room influenced by the Chinese Ming and Qing Dynasties. Do you know of any resources on-line?
Thanks! Renata

I found some really interesting stuff at this dealer's "showroom" (really a warehouse). They may have something for you.

(Yes its on ebay but it is all "buy it now" stuff and you can also go and check out their collection in person...they are very nice, too)
Did you try Pearl River in SoHo? Maybe the owners there can help you also
Renata,
You might want to check out the gargantuan Chinese furniture import store on 25th St. between 5th and 6th Ave., north side of the street. They have an amazing selection and gorgeous antiques, as well as repros. Prices are on the high side but not offensively so.
I also stumbled across a Chinese import furniture store in Dumbo on my way to the ABC Carpet warehouse sale. It's on the street you walk on from the subway to the ABC warehouse (sorry, I don't remember the name of it), on the right side of the street. Very nice and knowledgeable proprietor, and the prices were very good.
I too am looking for a Chinese screen, so would love any more ideas. Chinatown is the no-brainer place to explore, but I would love recommendations of specific stores from people who have experience with them.
thanks.
You can look over the info on these sites, which I suppose would probably help a bit. For Chinese furniture you can check out this page which basically will educate you a bit on Chinese culture etc.
