Hello AT,
Does anyone have advice about vessel sinks? These are sinks that sit all or partway above a surface.
I like the look of them and am considering installing two round ones in our bathroom, but have heard they should only be used in powder rooms because with regular, everyday use (e.g., face-washing) the user ends up splashing water all over him- or herself.
If this hasn't been a problem for you, brand/style names, prices, and sources would be appreciated.
Thanks! Jean

Arrrrgh! The debate that won't die!!
Moratorium on vessel sink discussions? Raise your hands.
Was this not addresses on June 29th?

I meant "addressed"
for relentless discussion of vessel sinks, read through the last bathroom contest...
the cliff notes: everyone who has 'em, likes 'em.
And it is possible to keep them clean.
I guess I was being too subtle.
It is the exact same "Good Question" from June 29th.

Hmm... it seems like just the other day there was another "good question" that at least seemed like it was also from from the Department of Redunancy Department, but I can't remember what it was.
Addressed or not, I am (I believe) echoing a statement made by another person.
Vessel sinks seem, to my mind, to be too trendy. In ten years (maybe less), you will be unhappy and your bathroom will look dated. Were I you, I would choose a sink that is less likely to go out of style.
Also, I believe someone brought up the issue of the difficulty of keeping these sinks clean and neat.
I think they will look dated in about five years, but I guess if someone's okay with swapping it out, then that's fine.
Seconded.
Bathroom Vessel Sink - A glass bowl or stone vessel style bathroom sink stands out from the crowd with an updated look. The faucet and vanity stand for the sink gives a complete, new look. People are eager to get rid of their old styles to have something that looks better. Most people still have an old style porcelain or plastic basin, which are slightly more practical if you like to have accessories very close to the sink. A vessel sink just looks better, and is preferred for those who like a simple, modern look.
