Hello AT,
Help! My back is killing me and the culprit is the standard issue office chair at my job. Besides being ugly it offers no back support at all. I have gotten the go-ahead to order a better chair, but don't have a clue of where to start. Is there an ergonomic chair emporium in the city where I can try out various models? Some people have suggested the Aeron chairs, but are they truly comfortable?
Thanks, M
Dear M, we believe in spending a bit for a good office chair and think that almost any one of the high performance chairs will do the trick (these are all about $600-$800). It really is a matter of style. We've used the Aeron, and it's great. These can often be found for less on Craigslist and many stores have sales on them (like Sam Flax did a month ago).
We found Conklin Office Furniture, which sells used task chairs which you can try out at their office at 230 5th Avenue.
We use a LEAP chair from Steelcase and LOVE it. We think the dark, sinister look of the Aeron wouldn't fit into our office.
As for where to try them out, DWR is a good place to do it, since they have so many. We also had a question like this over a year ago, Good Question: Where Do I Find A Good Task Chair For $450?, which has some really good answers as to what is good and where they can be bought for cheap. Evan Rose says go for the Knoll office chair - "They blow the Aeron out of the water."
I am now completely fixated by the existence of Herman Miller's Mirra. It is like the Aeron but is 96% recycled or of recyclable materials. A very sustainable chair, ergonomic, attractive, and comes in many different colors.
I've used an Aeron for several years now. It's comfortable, durable, and one investment I'd make again in a heartbeat. The Aeron, Mirra and Leap are all available at discount prices at www.sit4less.com
as i write this, i am sitting most comfortably in an aeron chair. If you want to splurge, i highly recommend it
At one of my previous jobs they provided us with Aerons and they were the best. I was there for two years & never had any back problems.
I was just in Design Within Reach in Soho (on Wooster St) Saturday trying out office chairs since they are having a 10% off sale. I was leaning towards the Aeron, but bought the new Chadwick chair since it was only 515.00 and felt a lot more comfortable than the Aeron. I was so bummed that the 10% off of course didn't include Herman Miller (Aeron) or Knoll (Chadwick) , but the salesperson at the Soho store said she could hook me up with 50.00 off any order over 500.00, which sealed the deal for me. Plus my girlfriend got the the Eames LCW for 50.00 off as well = 499.00!
Add me to the list of people who absolutely love their Aeron chairs! I've seen good prices on eBay, which works best if you can pick it up in person and avoid shipping charges.
I am the exception here. The Aeron is a good chair, in terms of comfort, but I think it's really ugly. Plus, it's so depressingly standard-issue high-tech firm. But I guess a bad back trumps aesthetics, because, let's face it, almost no comfortable office chairs manage to also look good.
I am yet another huge fan of the Aeron...! I bought mine about 3 years ago when I was having a lot of back trouble, and the improvement was amazing. No back problems since!
Every desk at my job has an Aeron chair. I'm looking into installing one in my Subaru.
http://jonaquino.blogspot.com/2005/10/do-it-yourself-aeron-ergonomic-chair.html
Will that do-it-yourself version be as comfortable if you come from a city with a slimmer Yellow Pages?
I have had my Aeron at home for four years, and couldn't imagine using a different chair. I got it at sit4less.com, but I went to a local store and got the whole sales schpeel first with lessons on how to use it.
I use a steelcase leap chair, i've used the aeron's before and the best compliment i can give is that i've sat in one for 12 hours and didn't even realize it. they are comfortable, but i like the leap better.
they are both very good, i also suggest HumanScale, you can get them a little cheaper then the steel case or miller variety chairs and they're also nice.
if you have a healthyback store nearby stop in, otherwise search the vendor websites for places with these chairs. I'm always surprised by the number of small office supply companies that sell them!
Cort Furniture Rentals rent Aerons, so that may be a place for a test drive (a quick one, in their showroom, or a longer one, by renting one for a brief period to see if you like it over a longer haul.)
I thought that DIY version was a funny one. I can never make myself sit on a phonebook.
We have these chairs at work, not Aerons, but they are ergonomic and I remember a WSJ Personal Journal episode on ergonomic chairs (i am pretty sure it was WSJ) on Fine Living gave a very good rating. I was trying to find what its name or brand is. I could not locate it under the seat. Probably need to look some more. They have many adjustments and seems to work for me.
I am pretty sure they are cheaper than Aeron's
I second the Steelcase Leap. Be aware that prices vary widely. I tried it out at a store that was charging ~1500 and ended up paying 800.
that homemade job was pretty funny . . . and reminded me that a rolled up towel is *exactly* what my PT suggested for car rides and other chair excursions when I f*cked up my back sitting in the wrong office chair for far too long . . .

Good luck finding that Russell Executive Chair. Officedepot.com says it's discontinued. I bet there was pressure from Herman Miller to stop selling it :-(
Here is a little insider hint... Steelcase just introduced a new "new model" of the Leap chair. Call you local Steelcase dealer and ask them if they have any showroom samples of the OLD Leap model... they will be in the mood to dump them.
If they say $1000 a chair... tell them you REALLY want a leap, but your budget is a couple hundred or less - they will probably fold and sell it to you... the old models are no good to them. Play your cards right and you'll get a fantastic chair at a very good price. Peace.. Annie
I have the Life Chair by Knoll and LOVE it!
luxurychair.com has a lot of options - and at a discount.
I've been looking for a good deal on a Aeron for several weeks now. I found The Aeron, Mirra and Leap are all available at discount prices at www.LuxuryChair.com
Working with LuxuryChair.com was the most horrible online buying experience I could possibly imagine. It took over a month to receive the chair (and this was after 5-10 calls with their customer support department). When I finally got the chair it was defective. Calls to get it fixed were simply not returned. When I finally did get ahold of someone it was outside the 30 day refund period and they promptly told me that they couldn't help me. I honestly believe this company is running a scam and I'm considering placing legal action. Stay away at all costs.
Luxurychair.com has THE WORST service I've ever encountered. I ordered two Eames Aluminum Management chairs. I have called them every day for the past 2.5 weeks and still I don't have the chairs (even though they tell me they are in stock and shipping 'soon.' Totally unprofessional. In my opinion, they are a scam. Stay away at all costs.
I bought by luxurychair.com and the experience was great..great prices, great chairs. i cudnt be happier.
Ye, i bought a leap chair and aeron, there too. and it was great. chair box was a bit banged in but that was UPS...otherwise chair was in good condition and can't beat their prices
I found that Smart Office Advisors www.smartofficeadvisors.com
is one of the best pre-owned office furniture companies in the US. Our company buys a lot of pre-owned products and we have tried many companies, well when you find a good one you hold on tight. Not only do they have top of the line products ans carry almost every Knoll part known to man but and very well priced. We purchased seating and cubicles from them and we couldn't be more happier. Their service is excellent too.
Jeff
So many great things can be said about the Aeron and Mirra chairs as to why they are so good as a sitting machine. Any ladies may also be interested to know that the pellicle material used to cover the seat on the aeron and Mirra chairs (and the new Celle chair) allows blood to circulate in the upper thighs helping to reduce the evil Cellulite!
Im based and operate my business in London if anyone needs any assistance. Stuart@abilityonline.co.uk
Nice to see the comments about luxurychair.com (I wish I would have seen these before I ordered). My sales experience was also completely unacceptable.
After waiting 16 days to receive our 'Eames Aluminum Management' chair, we were dismayed to discover it was an unauthentic counterfeit with several differences in both appearance and construction from the authentic Herman Miller chair.
After calling them, I was informed there must have been a mix-up. I was told I would receive the real chairs asap. After several unanswered calls and emails, I was later told the chairs were conveniently "unavailable." This was interesting as I had a friend call the day before who was assured the chairs were authentic AND in stock.
If the price is too good to be true, it probably is. Stay away from Luxurychair.com!
Also, if you see the only two positive reviews for luxurychair.com (in the above string), you'll notice they were posted one minute apart from each other. Coincidence? I think not.
I try to be an informed consumer and I do my homework. I looked up Luxurychair.com as well when I was looking to purchase my Aeron chair.
I really didn't see a lot of information and of what I did find, there were both positive and negative reviews. With an advertised price of $599.00 for their Herman Miller Aeron Chair, I decided to purchase from them.
I was given a ship time of 10-14 business days when I placed my order. I did make 3 phone calls which for me was standard as I always like to keep track of what is coming into me. My chair was shipped out on the 12th business day (pretty close to the end of my given ship time) but my chair did arrive to me on the 14th business day.
I'm happy with my purchase. I got what I paid for. My chair came in brand new condition as advertised and I didn't have anything missing. My box was a bit beat up but as far as I can tell for the past 6 weeks my chair didn't receive any damages from shipment.
I didn't order the Eames Management Chair as the fellow above did but I'm sure I would have been just as upset about a purchase gone so terribly wrong. As for my experience, it was positive. I order from many companies and I find good and bad about most of them...that's business. But I do believe in being an honest business and making sure you disclose everything to your consumer.
So if you are purchasing anything from any company, my lesson learned is: just do your homework first. Then in the end the only person you can blame is yourself. BE AN INFORMED BUYER!
Working With luxury chair was great !!!!
Got i great chair for the best price
ok shipping
check out the 2 for 1 deal they have
Hi I just got 10 aerons from www.luxurychair.com and it was my best experience ever with an online company I bought aerons before for my company at other online sites for a lot more money. at luxury chair its 599 plus 75 shipping and its still cheaper than buying from office designs by them its more like 1068.00 and it takes them 3 weeks to ship, and one came damaged and I had to send it back it was just a bad experience. Here Im getting the same chair at half the price it took 7 business days and I got them all. its brand new its the same thing I got from office designs just cheaper I still have the 12 year warranty I even have 30 days to return it at no cost to me I say I had a great experience dealing with luxurychair.com I would recommend it to any body looking for an aeron
Thanks luxury chair for all the savings, you know where I will buy my office chairs from now on by
www.luxurychair.com I give them 10 out of 10
I had a great online experience with Luxurychair.com. I found their sales representatives to be friendly and helpful I paid a great price for a great chair.
Good service, good product, great price!
My boss recently asked me to order 10 aerons on the net as we're refurnishing our office. Being the great secretary I am :-), I did my research to get the best deal possible thus ending up at luxurychair.com.
I spoke to Jenny who offered me a great deal. It did take a little longer than expected for delivery (about 10 business days) but it has to be expected when getting such a great deal. The chairs we're in perfect condition, besides one which was missing a caster that fell out of the box (box was damaged in shipping). 48 hours later I had a new caster, which Luxurychair.com over nighted.
I got a pat on the back from my boss and the satisfaction of getting the best deal.
I couldn't be happier and will definitely reorder when we refurnish our other location.
I recently purchased 2 chairs for my home office from Luxurychair.com. With so many brand named officed chairs out there, I wasn't sure what to get. I spoke with a representative who was extremely helpful on the phone. The conversation must have lasted at least 15 nminutes during which time the rep suggested I go with the SteelCase Leap chair. I finally decided to go with the Leap chair, as recommended, for $599.00. (30 day money back guarantee, figured I had nothing to lose)
I got the chairs within 7 business days and I love them. They fit perfectly in my home office setting.
It seems like luxurychair posts there own comments i would be apprehensive ordering from them
looks like all the positive luxurychair.com comments were written by the same guy. very shady! same with trendychair.com. they list their website on their ebay sales, but the ebay prices are higher, so that tempts you to buy outside ebay's protection.
TrendyChair.com & LuxuryChair.com are very shady sites. I have heard that the chairs they are providing may not carry warrantees from the manufacturers. Buyer Beware!
By the way...wanna try out the chair that will make Aeron feel like a folding chair??? Try Humanscale's new Liberty Chair. I just got one and it is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Aesthetically, there are so many mesh color & pattern options, as well as seat textile options! Looks GREAT, Feel GREAT, IT IS GREAT!!!!
I called luxurychair for some info about the Aeron and the lady there kept pushing the Leap chair on me. (See above post.) Whats't the deal with that? Seems suspect.
Damn people r so negative..the company offers a 30 day money back gaurantee..buy and take ur chances- u dont like it?? Get your money back...people r sooo sour.
I am a Herman Miller employee based in Portland, OR. Short version: unless you purchase Herman Miller from a certified dealer, there is no warranty, plain and simple. The seller may offer to warranty it themselves, but how are they going to get the parts? Thought all of you should be very aware of this...all it takes is one repair out of pocket (if the parts are avialable)and there went your up front "savings"....Scott
I order mine from trendychair.com and now I'm getting concerned. I placed my order on 2/14 and I called them a week later (2/21) when I hadn't heard that it had shipped. They gave me a tracking number for FEDEX that basically says they transmitted the package information to them. They told me I should see movement that night or the next day. No movement 2/22 but I did receive an email saying it shipped. No movement on 2/23, so I call. "Well it is still on the warehouse dock". I am thinking about cancelling it. I hope it isn't a scam.
- Mike
After reading the negative comments regarding LuxuryChair.com, I cancelled the Aeron order I had just placed with them. Now I wish I hadn't.
LuxuryChair.com cancelled my order immediately, welcomed my comments, and then I received a follow-up call from a supervisor the next morning. Only a legitimate business can be that concerned with customer service, even though they did not get my business in the end.
Disappointed buyers have every right to voice their opinion. But my point is this: LuxuryChair.com has great prices (and they state why right on the product page), they have a reasonable return policy, and they proved to me that they are willing to stand behind their brand image. So why shouldn't the public benefit from their cost-efficient solutions? I know I will next time I need office furniture.

Scott- 12 years, in regards to time, yes does beat Ford's warranty...but with regards to qaulity it can't compete. Herman Miller's warranty is a joke...it costs as much to ship the chair to HM and back then it would to fix it..
Herman miller is looking to screw their customers..buy a piece of plastic for $1,000 and when the mesh sinks in, or your plastic cracks- have a nice time.
I've had an Aeron for four years. It's been four years of pure misery. Unless you are really fat, the seat base will sag and your butt will be sitting on the hard plastic housing for the adjustment mechanisms. Then the "waterfall" front edge of the seat will dig into your thighs and cut off the circulation. The lumbar support is so uncomfortable that I took mine off completely. Probably because I sink so far into the mesh of the seat, the lumbar hits my mid back. After suffering for four years, I've decided to sell the awful thing on Ebay. I have to replace the seat base though because, again, I'm not fat enough to fit it and it's now permanently sagged. Herman Miller refuses to honor their warranty so it's an out of pocket expense on a $900 chair that was never comfortable. I strongly suggest you ignore all the postings by Herman Miller sales employees and look for a different product.
I just read the comment by the Herman Miller employee. Why won't they honor their warranty? Ford doesn't care where I bought my truck. They honor the warranty anywhere and regardless of who brings it in. They stand four square behind their product. Is Herman Miller scared? Is their product so crappy they are afraid to stand up and honor it? The only people getting screwed here are the people who buy their products. Yep. Their customers. Herman Miller just laughs all the way to the bank. They cash the checks and then screw you. They probably *make* their distributors sell to resellers just so they have an excuse to laugh in their customer's faces when their products fail. How pathetic is that?
Greg, forgive my logic attack, but if the chair was "never comfortable", then why did you buy it? Or even if you were not the purchaser, why would you keep a chair for "4 years of pure misery"? What nonsense. No single chair is a solution for all people. If it doesn't work for you, replace it immediately, plain and simple (or try the correct size Aeron for you as it is obvious from your description of the problem that you are in a size too large for you).
And Jim, I suggest that you now REREAD my comment. We do honor our warranty,as long as you buy it from one of our dealers...12 years parts and labor by the way(think that beats Ford). And if a dealer sells to a reseller, they lose their license.
Why are you paying for shipping? And why are you paying $1000?
Just bought a Aeron (Basic model) from Costco for $799 (before 8% tax!), yea not a good price (plus Costco isn't an authorized dealer) but they have a satisfaction policy (not that it means they'll take it back- because the one in Chino Hills, CA gave me sh*t about the $200 Lite-On DVD burner that wouldn't work!).
Hey Scott, since this chair was made in Jan. 2006, its obvious Costco got it from one of your "Authorized Dealer/Distributors" so what are you gonna do about it? -probably nothing since Costco is selling above what the dealers are selling for!
As for the chair, been sitting on it for about a week, so far ok, but $850! I could get a massage chair for that! or a good chair & bunch of $50 massages
You only had to buy one, not a six pack? Anyway I'm sure Herman Miller appreciates the business anyway you get the chairs.
Costco gets gray market stuff all the time, nothing new there. Caveat Emptor
Who is the goofball up above who paid $200 too much at Costco and then publicly announces their stupidity?
Who is the goofball up above who paid $200 too much at Costco for an Aeron and then publicly announces their stupidity?
Ahhhh..the old Aeron Chair on the gray market at CostCo. Seems I remember a similar situation a couple yaers back with Sam's Club. Anyways, Herman Miller is having a hard time keeping Aeron at the top of the list in the high end seating category. The feed back from customers on Mirra & Cella is horrible. Plastic? Oh yeah, it's GREEN! Well, it's only Green if someone is willing to recycle it. Last time I checked, there is not much value in plastic. If the chairs were made out of aluminum, like Aeron, that would be a different story.
So, getting back to the CostCo thing...Herman Miller needs to keep production up on Aeron, the STREET demands it. If Aeron sales fall, Herman Miller stock price will fall. So, how do you build up sales #s at the end of the year or quarter?? Dump a boat load of chairs to one of the largest, mass sellers out there, CostCo. Best part of the deal for Miller, CostCo will actually take delivery and inventory the product.
As the search for the ultimate ergonomic task chair continues, manufacturers like Humanscale & Knoll are developing cutting edge technologies, with high design, and great sustainability. Miller on the other hand is trying to skate by, using smoke & mirrors.
By the way..the Ford Taurus was NOT the best selling car in the US back in the 80's & 90's because American consumers were buying them...the Taurus was the best selling car because Ford sold/leased a HUGE percentage to the Avis & Hertz of the world.
Oh, by the way...isn't it interesting how defensive the Herman Miller people get on here when the truth comes out. Think about it!
Mirra & Cella! HA!
More like Crap & Junk!
Hey Mark, what Herman Miller competitor do you work for?
PS- The Steelcase Leap chair is also at Costco....hmm...
DS...funny thing is...I don't work for a competitor of Herman Miller. I'm not even in the industry. But I am in sales management, and fully understand what businesses need to do to keep their factories running. It's smoke and mirrors my friend. I have friends within the industry, and I am hearing rumblings that Herman Miller is failing so badly with the Mirra & Cella, that they are dropping their pants on Aeron Chairs. But, the only way to get the "really low" prices is if you go through a Herman Miller owned dealer, such as a Herman Miller Workplace Resource location. That's loyalty and business ethics for you. Oh, the price I was told...recently an order for 800 FULY LOADED Aeron chairs was SOLD to a customer at $399/chair. That's about 67% off of list.
Hmmm once again. Not sure how "business ethics" becomes the issue when you get the "really low" price along with their warranty by buying from a dealer vs. anyone else. Isn't it their choice who sells their stuff?
DS....well, Aeron just showed up at Costco! $799 for a fully loaded chair. Mind you, you can purchase the same chair from Room & Board for $699, but the fact remains...if Aeron is still "King of the Mountain" in ergonomic seating, then why does it show up in mass quantities at wholesale clubs, on an annual basis? Again, convenient way to keep factories running and investors / The Street in the dark as to what is really happening. Herman Miller needs to either gives the chair away to customers, or moves 5,000 - 10,000 units a year through wholesale clubs. Funny thing is, they are doing both! Now that should concern every Herman Miller stock holder!
Hmmm part 3...for fun I just checked Herman Miller's website, where a press release states that they have recorded their 9th consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth in sales and earnings....so if I'm a stockholder, I'd think I'd be pretty happy. And I repeat my question that you conveniently sidestepped: "Isn't it their choice who sells their stuff?" So what is "really happening" in your opinion?
Regarding Costco:
It seems that people forget the Costco lifetime satisfaction guarantee (for most items). If your Aeron chair breaks, you can return it to them.
Not only that, but they take it back even if you are not a member anymore!
For an expensive item, I would take a Costco warranty over any manufacturer's. ;)
DS, I will admit, the stock has performed well over the last few years. Though S&P has it as a hold, it is a solid stock. My concern stems from the "dumping" of product into the marketplace. The one product Herman Miller is truly known for with the general public is the Aeron Chair. Iconic in nature, the zest for this product is dying primarily due to the fact that any soccer mom can waltz into a Costco, drop her AMEX down, and walk out of the store with this design masterpiece. After loading it into her minivan, she is on the phone with all her girlfriends telling them how she just got one of those mesh chairs that Will sits in on Will & Grace. No wonder why Don Chadwick, one of the designers of Aeron, is now doing design work for their chief competitor, Knoll.
In regards to HM having a choice as to who sells their product, they absolutely have that right. But, they also have an obligation to those "CURRENT" authorized dealers that live & breath Herman Miller everyday. I can only imagine they aren't to happy about the chair showing up at Costco. Take this into consideration, most likely Costco got an unbelievable price for the Aeron Chairs, because they could take 5,000 - 10,000 units off Herman Miller's hands all at once. Then consider that Costco can turn around and sell the product for $799. I have to imagine they are making a $300 - $400 per chair! The local, AUTHORIZED, Herman Miller dealer would kill to make half of that margin on the sale of an Aeron Chair.
This is bad PR, bad marketing, and bad business development/relationship. Kill your supporters, and you might as well kill yourself.
Ervin's point is an important one...no one can beat Costco's satisfaction guarantee, NO ONE! This, makes most consumers VERY comfortable to work with a retailer like this.
They have turned their iconic product into a everyday commodity. That is really sad. Do you think Apple or Bose would ever do this? NEVER! Hence, customer loyalty and tremendous sales.
With that, I sign off. Thanks!
I don't believe Mr. Chadwick is or ever was a Herman Miller employee. He, like many others, works with a company "on contract" and then he is off to the next project with a new company. Oh, and what happens if the "soccer mom" chair breaks, and she returns it and there are no replacement chairs there for her? She may get her $ back, but then what? Oh, and why would a financially sound company "dump" chairs only to cut their own throat by seeing them end up at Costco?
Mark sounds constipated and in need of soccer love (or at least a good kick in the a**!. I would suggest an enema!!!
Why bicker over chairs...my vote is for the Aeron...they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, well look at the knockoffs!
DS:
Fact is, they would cut their own throats if it meant it kept production #s up. Do you honestly believe that Herman Miller would allow a large quantity of chairs to leave their factories and NOT know where they are ending up? That is the same as saying that Ford shipped out 5,000 Mustangs, not knowing what customer they were being delivered to, then acting surprised that they ended up on eBay. That's a stretch. But, if they honestly did not know, that should even be MORE alarming to The Street & investors. Sign of bad management & processes in my book. In regards to the soccer mom not being able to get a replacement? Most likely if she was given the option, she would opt for another chair or her money back if the chair she was returning was broken.
With a name like "Skippy"...an enema must be an everyday occurence for you.
Levi Cohen, the owner of Brooklyn-based Luxurychair.com, is being sued by Herman Miller and Steelcase, according to a recent article by Barton Deiters (Furniture
giants take on dealer) in The Grand Rapids Press. Mr. Cohen has been selling the manufacturers products at a discount, claiming that he purchases them from dealers
who have excess inventory or who get chairs returned due to incorrect orders, notes Mr. Deiters. The reporter explains, however, Steelcase and Herman Miller allege
in their separate lawsuits that [Mr.] Cohen
has infringed on trademarks and patents
by using [the names of their products, including the Leap and Aeron chairs] and claiming to be an authorized dealer when he is not. They also allege false advertising.
Both manufacturers are seeking fines and damages and trying to prevent Mr. Cohen
from selling their products and using their patents and trademarks. Mr. Cohen, meanwhile, has filed a countersuit against Herman Miller and refuses to change his business practices. Office Insight, 07-17-2006
fergit the Aeron chair! fer a cushy experience, get the Global Concorde 24 hour chair. It's awesome. After the first fifteen minutes of playing with the locking adjusts, I settled on having the adjustments on free wheelin'. I got it for about the same price as the Aeron. The fully wrapped body makes me feel swaddled.
It's quite obvious luxurychair's competition is trying there best to slander and defame the character of luxurychair and there owner levi cohen. the posts above are truly unauthentic, false, hear say and unfair to the parties mentioned. have you any class or respect?
how do i know? ... becuase im a repeat and satisified customer of www.luxurychair.com. with there 30-day money back guarantee and really rock bottom prices ... what exactly is the problem? ... delivery times have never been a problem ... the guy(s) posting the bullshit about luxurychair - why not give your real name and telephone number so luxurychair can find out who you are? ... you would never divulge that info would you? ... everyone sees that as cowardly and your the one who ends up looking like the bad guy ... cant you invest your energy into driving sales into your company rather then away from another? ...
Is there a place to sample ergonomic executive chairs in Miami Florida or vicinity
I ordered a chair from Luxury chair and they charged my credit card immediately (not a common practice by most legitimate businesses) and proceeded to lie about the delivery, claiming it was shipped, giving me a ficticious DHL tracking number and basically trying to expend the "30 day money back guarantee". You see, the 30 days starts on the day you "purchase" the product. Most reputable dealers will only bill you when they ship the merchandise. Luxury chair bills you upon order. When and if the correct chair arrives (after the 30 days from order), according to their questionable 'guarantee' if you are not satisfied you can return it but they will charge you shipping both ways, credit card fees, and whatever else they can make up. I spoke to Levi Cohen personally. After several days of his repeated lies, I cancelled my order and disputed the charge with my credit card. Now, out of nowhere they have commissioned a collection agency to harrass me. For what? I have nothing of theirs.
I urge all who have had a bad experience with Luxury chair to file complaints with:
New York State Consumer Protection Board 1-800- 697-1220
Bureau of Consumer Frauds and Protection, office of the Attorney General 1-800-788-9898
New York City Dept. of Consumer Affairs 212-487-4444
Better Business Bureau of New York 716-881-5222
By the way, according to the BBB Luxury Chairs has an unsatisfactory record.
If Luxury Chair is such an honest business and everyone who has posted a complaint is simply competition trying to tarnish their reputation, then Luxury Chair has nothing to worry about. It really does not matter what anyone thinks about it, it only matters what people do about it. Take action and fight for your rights. Let the truth be heard.
I am desperate to find gas cylinder parts, mainly plastic washers or bushings for the Russell Black Mesh Executive Chair. Since Office Depot no longer carries this chair, to ask them where to get parts is like pulling hens teeth. They can't tell me who made the chair so that I could go to them for parts. Anyone out there know?
Thanks, this was quite informative for me, as I'm in the market for a comfortable work chair.
