Hello AT,
I hope you can help me identify this chair. I bought it at a
second-hand shop in Brooklyn, but the salesperson didn't know anything about it. You can see in the picture where the label has been removed. I think the wood is rosewood. The seat was covered in orange velour when I bought it. It's not that I think it's worth very much (I paid $45), but I like it and would like to find a matching one to go with it.
Thank you, Margaret

Margaret, you might have something great on your hands. The back profile looks like it must have been cut, welded and then chromed (otherwise it would have a radius curve and not be clean like your chair is). Good sign. Patterned veneer. Good sign. Rosewood...good sign.
I saw some chairs very much like yours in Dessau, Germany and the dealer identified them as bauhaus. My other guess is French 40's to 70's.

I think you'd have a better shot at getting a matching pair by going to someone who specialzes in duplicating furniture and getting a matching one made than expecting to find a twin...
Thanks for the tips!
