Good Questions: Chandelier MIA?

6-16-chand1.jpgHello AT,

I found this chadelier in a Sherwin Williams ad.

Please help me locate it, or something like it.

Thanks a million! Carliepop

Telephone the Sherwin Williams customer service number for information about the advertising agency, photographer, and stylist... this could lead you to the source of the chandelier.

I researched tons of chandeliers when doing our new dining room. I recognize this from my research. I think I have documentation at home. If nobody has this info to you by this evening, I'll check my records and let you know.

Chris (nyc), did you find any black crystal chandaliers? I saw a great small inexpensive one here: http://tinyurl.com/l2tzr

Unfortunately the store doesn't ship to the US.

No, I was never in the market for a black crystal chandelier, though I was surprised at the number of colored crystal pieces on the market. Seems like a trend right now.

We bought a Cellula at Moss.

Since then DWR has started carrying them and they have become more common-place, but I still really love the fixture.

I recognized this instantly since I am totally in love with this line - but it costs a bazillion dollars. It is the Cascade chandelier from Boyd Lighting's Kentfield line: http://www.boydlighting.com/products.html?prod_id=K-0034&search_division=KENTFIELD

You should realize that this chandelier will be well into the thousands - I priced one of the sconces, which is much smaller, at around $3800. But if you'd like to check it out in action, these fixtures are also featured in the living room of the gorgeous home in Mr & Mrs Smith.

However, if you have the splash go for it - and definitely do not consider the Zia Priven lighting (which is roughly in the same price range) an equivalent. The beading on their fixtures is much smaller and does not provide the same look at all.

And on the black chandelier front, if anyone's asking, check out the Hamilton from Schonbek. Although also pricey it's still much cheaper than the one from Baccarat, and provides a similar look.

Oops, I actually meant the dining room. I think this exact same chandelier is right over their dining table and the sconce I wanted is visible on the wall in several scenes - I know because I watched the movie on Cinemax again this weekend SPECIFICALLY to check out these fixtures! Design can be a sickness ;-).

Sorry, let's try again...

I saw the Marilyn (in sconce form) this weekend and don't advise it either - it's made of glass, not crystal, and is not that shiny. The Cellula (which was also in the same store) was MUCH prettier and can be found for not too much more (see thread on AT SF).

To my mind though the nicest thing about the Cascade is that it uses non-faceted beads and globes, creating a much more subtle effect than Swarovski crystal. I have also seen much more traditional chandeliers using similar globes from Myran Allan (see their Beverly Hills Chic colelction). But it's just as expensive as the Cascade :-(. As you can see, I am in the middle of a lighting crisis myself!

Oh my, that black chandelier is fantastic! I must find a way to get that and then locate a place to put it in my home.

*eeeck, if you want to see the Cascade in person, visit the Donghia showroom: they rep Boyd, and have large rectangular Cascade installed over dining/conference table in their side room.
Schonbek: I had a chance (a tiny one, but still) to wim their black crystal table lamp with black shade: beyond perfect for my seating group, if I'd come to the raffle party on the June 14...I was in the mountains of Quebec then, although, to tell the truth, there was a moment of hesitation - a lamp or a spa? A spa or a lamp?

To go back to an earlier post, does anyone know the model of the chandelier/fixture in the living room in Mr. and Mrs. Smith? I've seen posts where it is mentioned as the Droog Design 85 Lamps but the picture doesn't match up to one in the film. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I found an imitation of the dining room chandelier for much less money...
