Good Questions: Clean & Simple Cosmetic Mirror?

11-3-mirror.jpg

Hello AT,

I'm looking for a clean and simple wall-mounted rotating cosmetic
mirror for a bathroom with a white tile and dark wood material
pallette. Above are images of some options that my own research turned up, but none of them are beautiful or simple enough. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks, Lara

I have the IKEA one and I'm really happy with it.

I don't have any suggestions, but I'm looking for a "non-permanently affixed" cosmetic mirror (in my case, for shaving). I don't want to drill into the tile to attach a mirror, but I'm hoping to find something that hangs from the shower curtain rod... or maybe even something that attaches to the tile with suction cups. Does anyone have any suggestions?

In response to DavidO:

you can get a shower mirror at sharper image. most are fog free.

DavidO - my husband got a fogless mirror for shaving in the shower. (Amazon.com around $20, I think.) It suctions to the shower wall and has a little hook for storing his razor. He's very happy with it. Leave a message if you're interested and I'll try to find the brand.

I also have the first one, from Ikea and really like it. It tucks up against the wall when not in use nicely.

The only draw back is that it doesn't adjust height-wise once it's mounted, except for the swivel of the mirror up and down; I think that's a common design issue (or not, depending on what your need is).

(it's expensive.)

I have and like the Samuel Heath Xenon mirror. one side regular the other magnify. Widely available from online suppliers:

It's not cheap but is high quality, solid brass and well designed both functionally and aesthetically:

I have the ikea one too, and it's worked great for almost two years now.

Thanks melissa and Jenny. I'll search Sharper Image and Amazon to see what's available. I was hoping to find something that hangs from the shower curtain rod, but suction cups seem to be what everyone manufactures.

What is the picture on the left? Manufacturer, model, where to buy?

Anything at a price point around $50? I loved the Xenon but ooooh that price.

Hey DavidO, whatever you find please let me know! My bf has been searching for the same thing- a suction free shower mirror for shaving. We do not want to drill into the tile...and it is hard to find one without suction cups. Thanks!

Becca, it really is hard to find shower mirrors that don't have suction cups (or require drilling into the wall).

Here's what I've found. First, there are some shower mirrors that come with a radio -- and they almost always have some kind of cord so that they can hang from the showerhead. Second, there are shower mirrors that come with a clock (but no radio) -- which can use suction cups, a hanging cord or a "shower enclosure mounting clip" (but I don't know what that means). Third, there are some weird looking shower mirrors that attach directly to the showerhead. See below for examples of each of these items.

In a perfect world, there would be a mirror that hangs from the shower rod (and not the showerhead), because I don't want to be shaving so close to the water shooting out of the showerhead. However, I think it might be possible to jigger something up so that the mirrors in item 1 and 2 are able to hang from the shower rod.

If anyone finds something similar to what I'm describing, please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks DavidO! you are awesome- i will check them all out. I forgot to mention that our other dilemma is that our shower head comes down from the ceiling...cannot really hang anything from there. But we have this vertical bar on the wall that would be perfect for a clamp-on mirror. Then we could put it at any height...
Thanks again
