Dear AT,
A friend of mine is looking for a nice leather club chair - similar to this one in Pottery Barn [the Manhattan Armchair].
But not for that price - do you know of any other reasonably priced ones?
Thanks! Jaime
Ah, the old steak and potatoes of the living room: the venerable club chair. Everyone wants one of these at least once in their life, and they are rarely cheap. As much as we hate to say it, for the money, Pottery Barn's chair is very good. Other options are these:

I read about this site in the most recent issue of Inc -- www.clubfurniture.com
They make their money off of club chairs. Can't vouch for them, and the site is a bit cheesy, but might be worth a call.
I received an email yesterday from furniturefind.com and there is a leather chair and ottoman on their front page for $899. Delivery brings it to a little over $1000. It might be worth checking out.
I just picked up a fantastic pair of leather club chairs for $800 a piece, including delivery. They'd started out life a burgundy that was too dark for my tastes but had been sun damaged to a mottled ruddy color. They have a chunky nail head trim around the back and the fronts of the arms. I picked them up at a consignment shop called Modele's -- alas I'm in Seattle so it may not be much use to you.
It mystifies me that, with all the grief Pottery Barn gets on this site, their furniture continues to be held up as an example. And that people bitch and moan about PB quality, yet want an even cheaper version of what they offer.
Clubfurniture has a large selection of styles and is running a free down filled upgrade.

There is someone selling club chairs (w/matching ottomans) on ebay that offers free shipping.
Do a search for "leather club chair" and it will probably be one of the first to come up. They are shipped from North Carolina.
Try The Door Store www.doorstorefurniture.com/leather.html
Their "2 Club Chairs for $1000" sale is almost always in effect.
My wife and I had been searching for reasonably priced club chairs for over a year (wasn't a high priority to be honest) and had seen Pottery Barn's but we weren't too happy with the price. (And, frankly, it seems that their is some price-fixing in the club chair market)
Walked into The Door Store on Park and 30-something and liked both the style and the quality, and for $1000 for 2, it couldn't be beat.
The big problem was they took forever to show up. IIRC, 8 weeks. Maybe a bit more. They were up front about the time, but it was still quite a long wait.
We've had them for over a year now in our living room, and they still look brand new. The only thing that may be a turn-off for someone is that the stitching in the leather isn't subtle. Personally, I like the look, but reasonable people may differ.
However, they did screw up our choice of wood that rims the bottom. They gave us a lighter color than we ordered. Since we figured the wait was going to be more than we had patience for, and it wasn't too bad, we just kept them as delivered.
I have an authentic Pottery Barn chocolate leather Manhattan chair and ottoman in very good condition. It has a broken in but not worn look (2 years old. If you are interested, call me at (315)255.3929 or email me at rosiebud@baldcom.net. I am redecorating and it will not blend with the new style and color of furniture I am purchasing.

Of all places my local Big Lots has a smaller scale leather club chair and ottoman for $399!
There is a company called Loftgoods that makes a chair very similar to the Manhattan (their chair is Miguel). They are great quality and come in 4 pieces so they can go anywhere. You can get them on Amazon or Target.com.
I was surfing for chairs the other night and saw club chairs, leather rounded back, brass tacks on front of the arms. They were linked to a page of tufted leather wingbacks which were $1500 plus or so, but the club chairs weren't priced, you had to call. I believe they were from North Carolina. Now I can't find that link!! Any tips?
thanks
