Hello AT,
My bathtub has a very slippery surface, and showering is a precarious operation. I have searched everywhere for some sort of funky and attractive non-slip solution (I grew up with those flower-shaped decals with the sandpaper surface...not my style).
Anyway, everything I can find seems to fall into this category:

Which to my mind is very grandma's house or hospital. BORING!
The only interesting thing I've found is this:

But it's only available from the UK at Mojo London (as well as some other online retailers), and the shipping charges make it not too cheap (23 pounds for the mat, 22 for shipping...that's about $80).
(It also comes in a psychedelic goldfish pattern, and another version
has neatly clipped green grass, sort of a photographic astroturf).
Surely there is some quirky boutique online or in NYC that has some
other options? If not, I guess I'll go for Pebbles, but I'd love to
have more than one choice!
Thanks, Ona
Dear Ona, Hey, we like your Grandmother's stars! (caught that one, Patrick)
Due to the pressing nature of this day and the great trust we have in our readers, we're going to throw this one out to the crowd. However, we would recommend checking at Mxyplyzyk, as they would know what is out there in terms of this small accessory niche and could tell you in a snap. We would check Target as well. MGR
Consider CB2's "man bath discs" in pink or green, and now on sale...

Try Delphinium on 9th Ave in upper forties - I don't remember anything specifically for this, but they have some interesting bath things
The man bath disks are very cool! I'd totally forgotten about Delphinium, too. And Myxyplyzyk looks worth a visit. Thanks for the tips!
The "Details" stores (on UWS, one Chelsea?) both are considerations, oo.
oo = too
here's a possibility...

You might also look at teak bathmats, which I love. The wood really warms up the space, and of course is non-slip. They have one at Hold Everything, I'm not sure where else, but I know they were getting popular.
so how are you actually supposed to use those teak bathmats? i thought it was for stepping out of the shower/bath. and then i always wondered, 1)wouldn't water drip between the wood slats & collect on the floor below the mat, and 2)wouldn't your feet still be pretty wet even after stepping on the mat? and finally, would you have to keep oiling it constantly? (you can probably tell i've been wondering about this for some time, b/c i too like how they look but can't justify the expense if they're totally impractical.)
I purchased a teak mat for both inside my shower and outside to dry off on. I love it. I have had it 5 months and it looks great without any oiling. The water collects under the mat when drying off and just evaporates during the day. No mess or mold or mildew. I purchaesd the mats from www.teakworks4u.com. They were great to deal with. I hope that is helpful

This is a classic problem. Rubber and vinyl products that look cheap. Glorified shelf liners. Mouse pads. Things that are best used outside of a tub.
This is probably my most frustrating product search as well. It's gotten to where I've even considered designing my own and getting it produced somewhere.
Has anyone found anything cool?
